Subject: BS: is it my fault when Mudcat goes down? From: keberoxu Date: 25 Aug 22 - 09:40 PM It seems like every time the Mudcat goes down, it is shortly after I post something. It can be anything. It can be a post to the 'check in Mudcatters worldwide' which reads 'Keep those check-ins coming.' BOOM! Down it goes. Maybe if I just lurk, the Mudcat will stop going down? |
Subject: RE: BS: is it my fault when Mudcat goes down? From: Donuel Date: 25 Aug 22 - 10:04 PM Its just your brain observing itself and sometimes believing its own BS. According to Nichiren Buddhism the mind is a spectrum of various levels. Practically we can condense the described levels into: Awareness of the world (sense and thinking) Consciousness of the self/ego (identity, concepts of good and bad, intellect…) Subconsciousness : instincts, desires, fears and karmic tendencies … The deepest field of subconsciousness is the Buddhanature, which is the mind of enlightenment of the individual. Enlightenment is awakening to the Dharma, the cosmic aspect of the universe. Or you can stay right where you are and pretend you are the center of the universe. Its all good unless you believe you are the king by divine right or the rule master that must be obeyed like the narcisist. |

Funny you should say that because I often think it's me. A moderator thinking "Grr, I'll shut that bugger up for a bit..." |

Subject: RE: BS: is it my fault when Mudcat goes down? From: MaJoC the Filk Date: 26 Aug 22 - 03:38 PM I was going to comment "Don't confuse correlation with causation," but I (personally) went 404 and had to reboot. |
Subject: RE: BS: is it my fault when Mudcat goes down? From: WalkaboutsVerse Date: 26 Aug 22 - 04:19 PM Thinking aloud, I was wondering if the whole thing could be set up on Google's Blogger, without the worry of going over the host's (I think I saw Apache) limits..? A blog would be a thread and blog-comments would allow submission of messages...not sure how thread titles would move atop the list though, which is important of course, but someone with a greater IT knowledge may know..? But I do know Blogger is free, has no limits on visits, and adds can easily be added if desired/needed... |

Subject: RE: BS: is it my fault when Mudcat goes down? From: Joe_F Date: 26 Aug 22 - 08:44 PM keberoxu: Maybe you just post a lot, so there's a good chance that a crash will follow closely on one of your postings. During the great US power failure of 1965, of the tens of millions of people who lost power, there were of course quite a few who had just done something electrical---turned on the coffeemaker, picked up the phone, plugged in a heater, whatever. Most of them thought at first that they had done it. |

Subject: RE: BS: is it my fault when Mudcat goes down? From: Roger the Skiffler Date: 27 Aug 22 - 05:07 AM I used to think I was the Kiss of Death to any thread. As soon as I contributed to a thread it stopped getting any posts! Have I killed this one? RtS |
