Just stumbled across this on Youtube: Demo version of Paul playing this solo. From the Lost BBC sessions. Sounds awesome with I think some sort of tuned down open tuning .Certainly the low guitar note is a tuned down C# on the low e string.
Any of you clever guitarists can work how he is playing it?

Is it this "Blessed" that's on the Sounds of Silence album? It's built on the Beatitudes, Matthew 5: 3-12.

There is a tablature online which suggests an "open" D tuning.
His guitar is probably tuned down a semi-tone from that-
often done with 12 string guitars.
