Greetings!

The 50th Anniversary of the Walnut Valley Festival (Bluegrass) is on the 14th - 18th of this month.

I’m returning after 30 years. There are familiar favorites from back in the day: John McCutcheon, Bryan Bowers, Tom Chapin. But 95% of the performers are new to me—I don’t know who’s who these days.

I’ll bet some Mudcatters know, tho!

I tried to scope out all the bands, but couldn’t find some of them. Of those I found, I’m set on seeing: Steel Wheels, 3 Trails West, Pretend Friend, Andy May, Dave Stamey, Bela Fleck, & Rhonda Vincent.

Who else is a must-see? What resonates strongest with me is traditional mountain banjo and story songs.

Here’s a list of the rest of the performers—who would YOU see if you could?

Herb Pederson + Pat Flynn + John Jorgenson (they’re together)
Sock in the Frying Pan
Chris Jones & Night Drivers
Marley’s Ghost
Tim O’Brien Band
Crary, Evans, & Barnick
Ros Brown & Jim Ratts
Shane Hennessy
Bennett & Gurley
Beppe Gambetta
Green Flamingos
Mark Alan Wade & Kyle Baker
Damn Tall Buidlings
Barry Patton & Friends
JigJam
Bing Futch
Still on the Hill
Whiskey Mash Band
Weda Skirts
Kelly Hunt

Many & multiple thanks for your time & guidance!!

I would definitely see Kelly Hunt. She is a banjo picker and first-rate performer and songwriter.
You can listen to her beaut debut album, 'Even the sparrow', on Youtube.
