In some old music programs I've been searching they often refer to a "Walk Around", usually do an uptempo song like "Shoo Fly" or "Who's Dat Heel a Burning".

My guess is that this is a seventh inning stretch type of thing. Anyone know for sure?

Richard

I think this is one of the parts of early minstrel routines, where the company would enter, take their places on stage and do a routine of group and individual songs and jokes, led by Mr. Interlocutor and aided by Mr. Bones, Mr. Tambo, etc. I think the "walk around" was where the whole group did something together to the up tempo tune, possibly moving around the stage or into the audience. Of course the people from Oz land can speak to a "walkabout," I suspect.
