The hearing that Comer and Jordan are holding isn’t a real impeachment investigation hearing. Rep. Adam Schiff held authorized impeachment investigative hearings for Trump’s first impeachment because the House authorized the investigation.

There has been no constitutional authorization for the Biden investigation. It is nothing more than Republicans pretending to hold impeachment hearings because Kevin McCarthy said so.

The hearing is fake, and until there is full House authorization, they have no authority or power to do anything impeachment-related.

Trump and his adult children expected to be called to testify in New York fraud trial

Trump, Donald Trump Jr., Eric Trump and Ivanka Trump are among the 28 names on James’ list of witnesses to be called in the case. Trump’s sons, who are also defendants in the case, have run the company since Trump was elected president in 2016.

Also on James’ list are Michael Cohen, Trump’s former fixer and personal lawyer, and Allen Weisselberg, the former chief financial officer of the Trump Organization.

Defense lawyers in the case submitted their own list of 128 witnesses, which also includes Trump and his two oldest sons.

The two lists were filed Wednesday to Manhattan Supreme Court Judge Arthur Engoron.

A day earlier, Engoron ruled that Trump, his sons and the company were liable for fraud in how they valued numerous real estate properties and other assets.

That searing ruling also stripped the defendants and the Trump Organization of their business certificates, and sanctioned multiple defense attorneys for repeatedly making frivolous arguments.

It appears that Trump supporter Mike Lindell is having his own financial problems continue. Now American Express has slashed his credit line.

Couldn't happen to a nicer guy better target.

"Steve, we really need everybody's help right now. We have things going on I'm going to let you all know this week," Lindell told fellow Trump ally Steve Bannon on the latter's "War Room" podcast on Monday.

Lindell said on the podcast that a sudden reduction in MyPillow's credit line with American Express was seriously affecting the company. Lindell told Bannon that MyPillow had been using American Express's services for the past 15 years.

"Out of the blue, they took our credit line from a million dollars down to $100,000," Lindell said. "Just cripples MyPillow. No reason, no explanation, just dropped it down last Tuesday."

A spokesperson for American Express told Newsweek in a story published on Tuesday that they weren't able to address Lindell's claims directly.

A New York judge found Donald Trump and his adult sons liable for fraud and canceled the Trump Organization’s business certification, a shocking ruling that poses an existential threat to the former president’s financial empire as he runs for a second term in the White House.

Judge Arthur Engoron’s ruling on Monday is a complete rejection of Trump’s arguments that he didn’t inflate the values of his golf courses, hotels, homes at Mar-a-Lago and Seven Springs on financial statements.

“In defendants’ world: rent-regulated apartments are worth the same as unregulated apartments; restricted land is worth the same as unrestricted land; restrictions can evaporate into thin air; a disclaimer by one party casting responsibility on another party exonerates the other party’s lies,” the judge wrote.

“That is a fantasy world, not the real world,” Engoron said.

The ruling came in response to the lawsuit by New York Attorney General Letitia James, who is seeking $250 million in damages, a ban on the Trumps from serving as officers of a business in New York and to stop the company from engaging in business transactions for five years.

The GOP attention has been laser-focused on Hunter Biden, as they try to suggest that someone who never had a job in the Biden administration is the same as Trump (or Trump's son-in-law Kushner, who took billions from the Saudi's the moment Trump was out of the White House). What Menendez has allegedly done is a problem, and you'd think they would grasp that, but he isn't in the Biden family or with the name, so they don't seem to care. And if Menendez did step down, the New Jersey governor could appoint someone to replace him. Since Murphy is Democrat, the balance remains in the Senate.

Cassidy Hutchinson's book comes out Tuesday, and she's on Rachel Maddow's show tonight. What do you want to bet Trump won't resist tweeting or posting to Truth Social when her stories are in print for all to see (or during or after her interview airs).

I scrolled down the US tab in Google News this evening and it wasn't until the 21st grouped box that a Trump story appeared, and this time it's about Cassidy Hutchinson with Trump stories to tell. He's like a toddler who has been quiet for a while - it makes me think he's up to no-good. He's in the news so much, to the point that when he isn't in the news it seems to be when he finds a way to bring attention back to himself, and in his world, any attention is good attention.

Case it point, how quickly, during the #MeToo era, Kirsten Gillibrand insisted Al Franken resign from the senate, and to avoid a fuss, Al did. The US House of Representatives lost a member last week when Christ Stewart of Utah resigned due to his wife's health (a stroke).

Stewart’s departure sets off a race to replace him on the Appropriations Committee, right as lawmakers feud over stopgap plans to fund the government before the month is out.

With his name already gone from his office door, Stewart left the Capitol on Thursday before the final votes of the day. In an interview with Roll Call on his way out of town, he shared his next moves (including buying some cows) and recalled his “somber” mood in 2013 during the first shutdown of his career. “We did what we thought was right at the time, and it didn’t work,” Stewart said.

A special Republican primary to fill his seat was held in the Beehive State last week, where his former aide, Celeste Maloy, clinched the nomination and is heavily favored to win on Nov. 21.

His replacement won't be there until after the November special election, so the House has only a four member GOP margin.

Trump will no doubt be dabbling in that kind of race, still trying to line up ducks to support him. As Rachel Maddow says, "#WatchThisSpace

It isn't an impeachment, it is an impeachment inquiry. The research that happens first to see if there is a case for impeachment - big difference.

There are some far right wingnuts who make a lot of threats but don't follow through as far as the Speaker of the House position.

I'm hoping the Washington, D.C. case is pushed sooner on the calendar to keep Trump from having more time to intimidate everyone he hates. It is an option open to Judge Chutkan that would limit the damage, but she also needs to muzzle him somehow. I think the threat of jail would overburden the Secret Service, but he has it coming.

Delay, delay, delay - that is the game plan for the Trump defenders on all fronts. A hearing on Sept. 14 resulted in a possible delay because Trump is suing the judge in the New York civil fraud case that is scheduled to start in early October this year.

Trump New York fraud case could be delayed after ex-president sues judge

Trump has repeatedly sought to delay or throw out the case, and has repeatedly been rejected. But this time, the Daily Beast said, an appeals judge, David Friedman, “grant[ed] the former president’s request in a surprise hearing on Thursday that was closed off to the public”.

Trump lawyers said Engoron defied an appellate order to work out which real-estate deals in the case are in fact too old to be examined for bank and insurance fraud. Engoron, the Daily Beast said, is due to make the decision soon.

Trump lawyers also protested against a recent order in which Engoron rejected an attempt to delay the case, writing curtly: “Decline to sign; defendants’ arguments are completely without merit.”

Following Friedman’s move to pause the case, a full appeals panel was due to consider the question, potentially altering the case or delaying it altogether. A spokesperson for the state court system told the Times the appeals panel would rule in the week beginning 25 September.

Fulton County judge rules DA can't try all 19 defendants together in Trump RICO case

Fulton County Judge Scott McAfee ruled Thursday in favor of severing the trials for 17 of the defendants, including former President Donald Trump, from that of two of the defendants in the election interference case.

The trial for the two defendants, lawyers Kenneth Chesebro and Sidney Powell, is scheduled to begin Oct. 23. McAfee denied their request to have trials separate from each other. McAfee said his decision "is simply a procedural and logistical inevitability."

"Beginning with the logistical concerns, the Fulton County Courthouse simply contains no courtroom adequately large enough to hold all 19 defendants, their multiple attorneys and support staff, the sheriff's deputies, court personnel, and the State's prosecutorial team," McAfee said in the ruling. "Relocating to another larger venue raises security concerns that cannot be rapidly addressed."

And on another front, the federal judge in the documents case restricted Trump's access to the documents in question. He isn't allowed to take them back to Mar a lago to peruse them at his leisure. But it took her an entire month to come up with a ruling that would normally have been rendered in a single day. She's slow-walking this for Trump.

A lot of recent content and the attendant bickering was removed. Stick to talking about the cases.

Trump's Chief of Staff Meadows spent several hours testifying today, trying to get his trial moved to federal court. His version of things is now etched in stone - under oath, anything he said can and will be used against him.

One of the group has filed to waive the arraignment hearing in Atlanta, filing a "not guilty" plea. I think it may have been discussed on MSNBC, I don't see it in the Google News stories I just pulled up. Trump, other defendants to be arraigned next week in Georgia election interference case. The rest will be arraigned next week on Wednesday.

Their lawsuit contends that Trump should be disqualified from running in future elections because he violated Section 3 of the 14th Amendment with his role in the Jan. 6 insurrection.

Their suit, which was filed in the U.S. District Court in Denver, contends that Trump should be disqualified from running in future elections under Section 3 of the 14th Amendment of the Constitution, which states that no person shall hold any office if they "engaged in insurrection or rebellion" after having taken an oath to support the Constitution.

The group called on the court to remove Trump from the 2024 ballot and declare that it would be "improper" and "a breach or neglect of duty" for Colorado Secretary of State Jena Griswold, a Democrat, to allow his name to appear on any future primary or general election ballots.

Trump's standing armies of thugs are losing their leadership, as several more are found guilty and sentenced to between 10 and 20 years in prison for the January 6 events. Trump seems to have been knocked off of the front page by Idalia. And another blip on the political news radar is that CNN has a new leader after the pro-Trump Chris Licht was fired in June. Licht alienated and fired a lot of people before he was done, but now hopefully CNN can do more real news again. David Zaslav Says Mark Thompson Will Bring “Transformational Leadership” to CNN. Not like Trump ever liked CNN, but a network going from relatively neutral into the Trump Swamp was problematic. FAUX News is bad enough, along with a couple of the lesser stars (New Max, OAN) in the conservative news constellation.

The issues that will get people to the polls don't have to do with Trump; it has to do with the Supreme Court. You need to go to a more granular level. The state issues to do with access to abortion and birth control and LGBTQ-rights are where pissed off American women and families and their allies are making the difference.
