I am not a great Hurdy-Gurdy fan, but this is truly amazing. The link was sent to me by a listener.

It's not **folk** but it is excellent. I have seen only one good hurdy-gurdy played live...Jake Walton, many years ago.
WE in FSGW had a guy who played 'at' a home-made one, which inspired much joking...
"It's not going to stop complaining if you keep twisting its tail!"

This isn't folk either. I saw the Led Zeppelin Unledded MTV show on very late night TV probably back in 1994 and should have gone to sleep because I had to go to work the next morning but I couldn't stop watching it.

I was very surprised and pleased to see a hurdy gurdy in this clip:

Nobody's Fault But Mine

I'm guessing that the hurdy gurdy player was Nigel Eaton.

I do like a hurdy gurdy when it is played well. It can be a real crossover/fusion instrument.

Well I know nothing about the range or the potential of a well-played hurdy-gurdy, but I'd say that Andy Irvine is a pretty good exponent. He played it at a Patrick Street concert we went to in Exeter many moons ago. The tracks on their live album were all recorded on that tour (he joked that it was like Abbey Road backstage), and I'll swear that it's me cheering at one point!

"It's not **folk** but it is excellent" - of course it's folk.
