Roberta Flack

American Masters (long-running program on the Public Broadcasting System)
S37 Ep1
Roberta Flack
Premiere: 1/24/2023 |90 minutes|
American Masters: Roberta Flack follows the music icon from a piano lounge through her rise to stardom. From “First Time Ever I Saw Your Face” to “Killing Me Softly,” Flack’s virtuosity was inseparable from her commitment to civil rights. Detailing her story in her own words, the film features exclusive access to Flack’s archives and interviews with Rev. Jesse Jackson, Peabo Bryson and more.

Premiere: 1/24/2023 at 9pm

The link above gives a 30 second video clip.

The program just ended and, like the Zora Neale Hurston program last week, that is a must-see for the wide-ranging oeuvre Flack worked with, and all of the careers she helped launch as a mentor to other performers.

Alas to our overseas members, the video probably won't play at this time. But its something to look forward to later in the spring.
