Does anyone know the song RORSCHACHS (THEME FOR THE POPE) from the album 'The Magazine'? I am trying to get a good translation into English from the original French version. The French lyrics are below, any help would be appreciated.

Qu'ant jamais l'moindre doute.

De Memphis a Nashville
Y'a une vieille cad qui titube
Et dedans y'a l'chanteur
Qui sait plus les faire les tubes
Qu'il ouvre un oeil
S'il veut pas abimer
Les milliers d'santiags
Et les ch'mises a carreaux

Entre Memphis et Nashville
Elle se sort du restauroute
L'soleil lui ferme les yeux
Elle en a plus rien a foutre
Elle voit pas l'chanteur
A l'envers dans l'fosse
La cad et l'chaffeur
En sont tout retournes
Oh tel que j'les connais
Y vout bien s'rencountrer.

Thanks,
Ivor.

Ivor,

At the bottom of your post you will see a link to a translator. I tried a French to English translation and received the following output:

In English:

Does anyone know the song ' Rorschachs (theme for the pope) from the album ' The Magazine'? I amndt trying to get has good translation into English from the original French version. The French lyrics are below, any help would Be appreciated.

De Memphis has Nashville Y' has a road which smells... the blues Y' good does not have too many gondales Y' has that the funny ones of fresh, soft water Of the thousands of santiags On sale in restauroute And of the ch' put has squares That ant never the slightest doubt.

De Memphis has Nashville Y' has an old woman cad who staggers And inside y' has the singer Who can more make them the tubes That it opens an eye If it does not want abimer the thousands of santiags And the put ch' has squares

Between Memphis and Nashville It is come out of the restauroute the sun closes the eyes to him It has of it more anything has foutre It does not see singer A back in the pit the cad and the chaffor is all turn over Oh such as I know them well Y vout rencountrer.

It does not look very helpful though.

Ooh, 'the old woman cad who staggers'? I love it!

I don't see the link, Roger, can you post it again? I'd love to try it.

Dani

>>From Memphis to Nashville, there's a road that feels good, the blues

>>There aren't too many bumps, there's only sweet water fools

>>The thousands of cowboy boots on sale in the truckstop*

>>And the checquered shirts that never have the least doubt (?)

>>From Memphis a Nashville, there's an old chick staggering

>>And inside there's the singer, who can't sing any more hits

>>Who opens his eye if he doesn't want to damage the thousands of cowboy boots and checquered shirts

>>Between Memphis and Nashville, she gets out of the truckstop*

>>The sun shuts here eyes; she doesn't give a damn anymore

>>She doesn't see the singer, upside down in the ditch

>>The old chick and the driver have all come back

>>As far as I know them, they'll want to get back together.

"Cad" could mean old chick, old lady but since the "cad" comes back with the driver, I wonder if it's not "Cad" as in "Cadillac." Could be.

*Truckstop is close to the atmosphere but a "restauroute" is merely a restaurant on a road - they often are rather nice swanky places in France.

Une vielle cad qui titube more probably means an old cadillac weaving on the road (from Memphis to Nashville) with a singer inside etc..
Makes more sense as the singer ends up upside down inside the "cad"in the ditch....
