Subject: RE: Morris on the Brits From: Dave the Gnome Date: 05 Mar 23 - 11:16 AM Just found out that I know one of the founders of Boss Morris! :-) They decided that recruiting young people into a traditional side was not working so they tried something new, That seems to have dome the trick! |

Subject: RE: Morris on the Brits From: Dave the Gnome Date: 05 Mar 23 - 11:31 AM Just spotted this too and I think it is equally important to folk song - “We like to keep things instinctive rather than consciously planned out,” explained Merry. “We really enjoy researching and exploring the historical side of things, but we think it’s important not to be restricted by it too. An old folk tale, song or image can spark an idea and then we’ll respond to it in a way that feels relevant today. We’re an eclectic, creative group so it’s always fun to see what we cook up together.” If we wnat to keep any traditions alive it is vitaly important to make sure that they do feel relevant today. In my opion of course! |

Subject: RE: Morris on the Brits From: Steve Gardham Date: 05 Mar 23 - 04:22 PM Dave, that's the difference between a museum piece and a piece of live tradition. If it doesn't evolve in some way it's a museum piece. |
