Folksinger, Betsy Legg Any information?

Subject: Folk singer, Betsy Legg Any information?

American folk singer, Betsy Legg had an LP just titled, Betsy.
Album was all covers, was released in 1971. I tried doing a Google online search to find out more about this singer but all I could find was links to hear the songs from her album on Youtube. There was no actual information about her at all. She has a beautiful very folky voice and has that crystal clear soprano voice.
If anyone has any information about her, where she was from and what became of her, please post what you know. As far as I know, she only had the one self titled album in 1971. She appeared to be in her early or mid 20's from the photograph on the cover of the album.

I was told this Betsy Legg covers LP was a private limited edition vinyl pressing for America only from about 1972 on BCG, but all of the tracks have now found their way onto YT. There is not much information that I could find other than that. Discogs did have one up for sale at about £50.      m

I've been told she was originally from Bristol TN, played at Dante's Atlanta underground in the 1970's and her album was recorded somewhere in Georgia? That's all I've heard I cant get anything on a google search more than you have?

There are several Tennessee High School yearbook photos from the 1960s of Betsy Legg available in online sources, including Ancestry.com. A few of them show Betsy Legg holding a guitar. Other than that, there's very little available about her online.

Not my idea of folk but nevertheless I would like to hear more - yes, I do have a life outside folk.
Have used the link Joe gave to listen to this lovely singer but am unable to download for further listening.
If the lady is still around I would be more than willing to contribute to obtain but not if some greedy parasite (like Sony) is also grabbing a majority chunk.
Had enough of that with those lying bastards at PRS!!!!!!!

Her brother George's obituary mentions her married name: Betsy Legg Simon (Ted). Parents George & Kathryn Legg.

Discogs does not do downloads. Sometimes they link to ytube.

With all the viral hype, the original vinyl has jumped about 4x to just under U$100 online. It's all used/resale product. Excepting the Discogs/Ebay overhead, there is no corporate angle to it.

Dia, Thank you for the link. Was able to open the one of Betsy from her high school photo with other girls.
Was also able to view the second photo of her in the 1970's but couldn't read all the article with that one, (just a portion of it.)

I was a good friend of Betsy’s in college and attended her wedding some years later. She taught me how to do some guitar licks, but I was never very good. She had a devoted following in Atlanta in the early 70s when she sang at Dante’s Down the Hatch in Underground Atlanta, which was a very cool entertainment and dining area at the time. I have had her album for 50 years and still play it often. I believe it was the only one she recorded. Over the years I have tried to reconnect with her in various ways but have not been able to. In fact, it was while doing one of my occasional scans of the internet that I found this website.

I once heard that she had had some sort of accident and couldn’t play guitar anymore, but I don’t know if that was true or just a rumor. For whatever reason, she clearly doesn’t want to be found, and I am respecting that by not disclosing any personal info about myself or about her — but in any case it isn’t much more than what various folks have posted on this site.

It is nice to see interest in Betsy after all this time. She had and, I assume, still has a lovely, pure voice.

Nice to read your post. It would be great to hear any updated news about Betsy. I was the person who posted the first message here after hearing her album on Youtube. I wish I had the album. I'm hoping she will one day respond and know that there is quite a lot of fans out there who just love her singing. Such a talented artist. Did she sing at many other clubs or just the one you mentioned in your post from Sept.

I didn’t live in Atlanta back then and don’t now, so I don’t know if or where else she performed. Dante’s was her regular gig. She was the house singer there for some period of time.
