For two days I have been unable to add to Mudcat Thread Any May Songs. When I try to post I get the message

” 500 - Internal server error. There is a problem with the resource you are looking for, and it cannot be displayed. “

Does anyone else have a problem with Mudcat posting at the moment? Can I get round this easily ?

I've composed a post for the Bob Bolton obit thread, & tried posting it 3 times.

As the post is more than 7 days old, I had to find it. Preview worked each time, & it was very S L O W each time when I submitted.

will this post? - only way is to Submit Message ...

The server is timing out. Short messages of one paragraph seem to get through. Max has been informed about this.

I have three posts waiting in similar fashion. I've managed to put up 1 new post but got the 500 error on other posts including attempts to add songs to the index on a permathread.

It seems the server times out if you try to send more than a modest length paragraph. Occasionally you get lucky and more goes through.

A while since I've been here - I found I couldn't use the Cat at all for quite a while and external searches (searching for a desired term - say
"Róisín Dubh" site:mudcat.org
didn't work.
So I came in today in hopes that the Lyrics & Knowledge search would work for a tune I've forgotten - I mean I've forgotten which the tune is; it's something like "ireland's welcome to the stranger" and is vulgarly known as something like "an phis fhliuch". But the Lyrics & Knowledge search gives me a 500 error.
Is this fixable?
I'm using Safari on a Mac, both the latest updates.

long standing problem - I prefer google site search, but sometimes it takes many attempts to find the right term - have you tried all the other terms you mentioned??

I find that certain "eras" of posts don't ever come up for me on Google search, even if I use exact phrases from the body of the post or the title. I can find older threads, and more recent ones, but a bunch from maybe 2017 ish - 2021 never come up on Google. For example

Fret Buzz Blues - I can never get a direct link to that song's page though I know it's there. Often I have to resort to sifting through my posted messages to find a thread I *know* I posted in

Try the Filter first. Put one distinctive word in the Filter box, set the age to ALL and Refresh. If the results are too many, use CTRL-F for a second word. The Filter searches only by thread title, which is why we require thread titles to be specific.

Joe's answer (shared from elsewhere at Mudcat).

My answer: go to Google Advanced Search and enter the keywords I'm searching in one of the top two lines (I've pulled them off of the page below - either all of the words in the song title, or the exact name if I think it might be posted by that exact name.) The important point when using this is the also fill in the "site or domain" line with the full http://mudcat.org address; using just mudcat.org means Google adds a "www" and it breaks the search.


all these words: ............ Type the important words: tricolor rat terrier

this exact word or phrase: .....Put exact words in quotes: "rat terrier"

any of these words:.............Type OR between all the words you want: miniature OR standard

none of these words:............Put a minus sign just before words you don't want: -rodent, -"Jack Russell"

numbers ranging from: — to......Put 2 periods between the numbers and add a unit of measure: 10..35 lb, $300..$500, 2010..2011
