If I could finnd a way to get it inside the instrument I'd use https://www.catch.com.au/product/guitto-ggp-01-sound-hole-and-piezo-pickup-7147569/?offer_id=36145087&ref=gmc&gclid=EAIaIQobChMI

Thanks "Woody".
These pickups are little beauties.
I've also bought some wireless dongles for them from the same supplier, for approximately the same cost that work with Active pickups and are as good as products @4 times the price.

I'll post a link later today.
.Cheers

Bugsy

I saw one of these pickups advertised by Swamp Industries in Australia for AUS$79.95.

I thought it wasn't a lot to lose if the product was crap, so ordered one.
I was surprised by the quality of the product when I received it. It had a piezoelectric pickup That fits under the saddle and a built in condenser mike in the main body.
I had it fitted to my Yamaha FG-340T and was impressed by the quality of the sound from my little Kustom amp.

on the strength of that, I bought 2 more and fitted them in my Daion-L9 and my Maton 325. The Maton had a passive BAGS pickup fitted so I dispensed with piezoelectric pickup supplied and connected the unit to the BAGS. When I plugged in and played, it nearly blew my head off! so loud and clear!

Ive used them at gigs and have had glowing reports of the sound quality from these GUITTO pickups.

they fit into the sound hole and run off 2 button batteries, which seem to last quite a long time and are easily replaced without having to slacken or remove any strings.

I'd heartily recommend this product to anyone looking to electrify their "special" acoustic guitar. No drilling needed.

Skip the abrasive, unless you want to take off the plating or ruin the surface. Tale from a previous existence: when we had to clean gold-plated contacts on printed circuit boards (which had got covered in a thin layer of yuk during storage), we were given the very softest of pencil rubbers to do it with.

The 9 volt battery may be OK but is it’s power getting to the pre-amp? The power is lileky switched on when you plug the lead into the guitar - there will be a switch built into the jack socket. These switches can become corroded and prevent the pre-amp from powering up. Certainly worth checking. A squirt of switch cleaner a quick scrape with some sort of abraisive may be all that’s required.

I can't help you with your electronics diffculty but regarding possible replacements- I don't care for the "quack" you get from those under saddle Piezo pickups, some do. I installed a
K&K Pure Mini in my 000-18 Martin and get a pretty decent acoustic sound but better yet is the L.R. Baggs Lyric that came installed in my Slope D. I do like the convenience of a low profile
volume control in the sound hole and you can move it up slightly so it's not visible. I'd listen to various pickups, as best you can, and if you have any doubts about your ability to do a proper installation by all means take it to a competent luthier.

Make that "https://mudcat.org", unless you've got the HTTPS Everywhere extension installed in your browser. Hope this helps.

I went back through a really old (1999!) post on the subject of Epiphone guitar problems and tracked down a suggestion that is now defunct, but over the years it has moved to new locations.

This is the Mudcat thread: Guitar Repair and our late lamented Alice recommended contacting Net Guitar's Stringed Instrument Division. That doesn't go anywhere now, but in Internet Archive I opened her Netguitar link and it forwarded to StringedInsturmentDivision.com. That Internet Archive (obsolete) URL in turn forwards to https://sidmissoula.mystrikingly.com/. And that one seems to work!

To search Mudcat (because the search at the top of the page is broken) go to Google Advanced Search and enter your search terms in one of the top lines and enter http://mudcat.org in the "site or domain." If you don't enter the entire URL it tries to add a www to the address and goes nowhere. To track down dead links, enter that URL into the Internet Archive's Wayback Machine. You can either capture the information you needed from that old site or find out where they moved to.

I have a question for our guitar players; I have a pretty nice Epiphone Century Masterbilt Deluxe that's one of the reissues from 2017. It has a Shadow electronics pickup with tone and volume control inside the treble F-hole, and the pickup under the bridge saddle. For whatever reason it's not sending any signal to the amp. A meter across the pickup (when isolated from the rest of the circuit) shows very little to no resistance. the onboard battery is right at 9 volts output. I can't seem to get Epiphone or Shadow Electronics to tell me much about this system. What replacement element under the bridge saddle does this system take? Is there another better or equal to it for sale somewhere that won't put me in the poorhouse? I really like the clean look of the guitar with no visible electronic business.
Thanks! CHeers! Chaz
