Subject: The Russian Band From: Pappy Fiddle Date: 25 May 23 - 06:51 PM From what I can gather here in the backwoods, the Russians invaded Ukraine in 2022 feb., and the invasion fizzled, because the Russian military leadership is full of silly fools. Morale among the troops was pretty low, so their solution? Send a brass band to the front to cheer up the men. I haven't heard anything about it since, but I wrote some lines. The leader of the band woke up to find His band was surrounded in front and behind With tanks and troops - things were not the same Well, well, he said; war is such a funny game So he came on out of his funny little tent Saying BO3 (voz) Who are you people is what he meant Ukraini is what the soldiers were What we want to know is who are you, sir I am the leader of the Russian band Sent here to Ukraini land To cheer the troops with low morale We will cheer you up oh yes we shall The Kremlin peeps are well dismayed Their attempt at conquest was not well played Special miltary operation's all screwed up Their tanks and trucks are all chewed up So here you see the remedy We'll cure this gloom with melody Moscow's sent a big brass band It's all going according to plan Now, I would like to throw this out as a group exercise to 1) find more and better lyrics and 2) to find a tune for it. I'm leaning toward a tune called "The Nightingale" which I have heard performed by a bagpipe & whistle band called Zweyerley Pfeifferey. |
