Subject: BS: Musk slagging off Starmer From: Big Al Whittle Date: 07 Jan 25 - 06:14 AM I keep thinking of the Randy Newman line.... "He maybe a fool, but he's our fool..." |
Subject: RE: BS: Musk slagging off Starmer From: Backwoodsman Date: 07 Jan 25 - 06:24 AM Hey Al, I already mentioned this in the ‘Let’s talk about the US Election’ thread. Maybe add your comments there? Cheers! |
Subject: RE: BS: Brexit & other UK political topics - 3 From: Dave the Gnome Date: 07 Jan 25 - 08:53 AM I'm pretty sure it is UK politivcal so thanks, Nigel. As the Turnip is not yet actual president and Musk is not yet in a goverment position there is very little can be said or done about a private individual, even a very influenential one, from slagging off the UK goverment. It happens on here often enough :-D When Turnip is sworn in and Musk is a real US government representatitive I suspect the US ambassador will have some explaining to do if the rhetoric keeps up. It is my opinion that it will be better for the UK to sever ties with the upcoming US administration and concentrate on rebuilding relationships with our closest trading partners. I am sure others will disagree! |

I am sure others will disagree! Not me, Dave! Anyone who can’t see how much we have lost as a result of BrexShit, and how we are about to be right-royally Rogered by Drumpf, his President-elect-by-Proxy, Musk, and their puppet in the UK Parliament, Farage, needs to withdraw their head from the sand. |

--- *Yessss*, thinks I: Wonderful punchline. (Does it count as a meta-trolling?) PS: Dear MudElf: does this message belong elsewhere? Yes. It and the companions are there now. Thank you for asking! ---mudelf |
Subject: RE: BS: Musk slagging off Starmer From: Donuel Date: 07 Jan 25 - 11:05 AM I don't claim his native South African ass as American. He sold his part ownership in pay pal to ebay for 1.5 billion while he was a Canadian citizen. He got US citizenship in 2002. He is a glorified manager, not an inventor. |
Subject: RE: BS: Brexit & other UK political topics - 3 From: gillymor Date: 07 Jan 25 - 11:36 AM All this attention that Musk is getting has got to be driving Trump crazy, or rather, crazier. During COVID, when Fauci and Pence were conducting the popular and informative daily briefings he had to horn in and grab back the spotlight with innovative ideas liking drinking bleach and sticking a gro-light up you butt. He's living in a reality show gone wrong and he has to be the star. |
Subject: RE: BS: Brexit & other UK political topics - 3 From: keberoxu Date: 07 Feb 25 - 09:37 AM The BBC reports an announcement of plans to demolish Grenfell Tower at last, years after the fire. |
Subject: RE: BS: Brexit & other UK political topics - 3 From: Dave the Gnome Date: 08 Feb 25 - 08:53 AM Grenfell Tower news to confirm what keberoxu posted. I am ambivalent about it and can understand why there are mixed feeings in the community. |
Subject: RE: BS: Brexit & other UK political topics - 3 From: The Sandman Date: 08 Feb 25 - 02:04 PM Dave, would you agree that this is the fault of our system. Unfortunately, so far, the other system has failed for other reasons. What an unjust world we live in. I suppose until we as a species start treating others in the way we would want to be treated, this will happen again and again. I too, understand, why there are mixed feelings in the community. |
Subject: RE: BS: Brexit & other UK political topics - 3 From: Dave the Gnome Date: 08 Feb 25 - 06:06 PM I don't know what systems you are are saying is at fault and which 'other system' has failed, Dick. Yes, we do live an an unjust world but I do try to make the best of it. Treating others as we would like to be treated is a noble goal. Let's hope that everyone tries it in our lifetime :-) |
Subject: RE: BS: Brexit & other UK political topics - 3 From: The Sandman Date: 08 Feb 25 - 09:35 PM THE capitalist system is at fault |
Subject: RE: BS: Brexit & other UK political topics - 3 From: Dave the Gnome Date: 09 Feb 25 - 03:15 AM Yes, probably. What's the other (failed) system then? |
Subject: RE: BS: Brexit & other UK political topics - 3 From: The Sandman Date: 09 Feb 25 - 03:54 AM The system practised in the Soviet Union. Although it seemed to work in Cuba |
