I am researching a song which appears to have originated in mayo relating to the 1798 Rising.

The song I think is known as John Gibbons Lament, or maybe John Moore's Lament.

The lyrics of the first verse are given here:

"No more will you hear the cock crow John,
no more the sun you'll see rise
no more will you see the eagle soar
or hear the curlew cry".
