Subject: RE: Obit: Robbie Robertson RIP (1943-2023) From: gillymor Date: 09 Aug 23 - 07:26 PM With the Band he was the main songwriter and lead guitar player (Levon played guitar on a few recordings). He didn't take a lot of solos but he came up with so many great parts and fills. |

Subject: RE: Obit: Robbie Robertson RIP (1943-2023) From: G-Force Date: 10 Aug 23 - 03:00 AM He was one of my absolute heroes back in the day. His songwriting put most other rock songwriting to shame. But after The Band broke up his output was rather more disposable, but I guess it paid the bills. 'Testimony' is a fascinating read, but probably not the whole story. |

Perhaps Levon's claim that the members developed the songs together that Robbie put his name on had some merit but I'm sure The Band wouldn't have been what the were without Robbie and vice versa. They were definitely worth more than the sum of their parts though the parts were pretty damned amazing. |
