Some years ago I spent about £15 on a musical CD-ROM from www.traditionalmusic.co.uk (I think the website was owned by a Rod Smith of Crowborough in Sussex). This was probably the best value I ever got (both musically and overall) for about £15; the CD contained lyrics and musical notation for thousands of songs and tunes, conveniently organised into categories. Unfortunately the CD (which I used to keep permanently in the CD drive of my main laptop) has gone missing (I thought at first it might have been in the possession of someone who had the laptop for some days when fitting a new battery), but this is apparently not the case. I would be happy to pay over the odds for a new one, but although the above website is still operating (with many very interesting and useful links) I cannot see either where to order such a CD-ROM or see where to contact anyone. Perhaps a Mudcat user from the British Isles has ordered a similar CD recently and could help me here?

Hi….could it be that you got the CD from Rod Stradlings Musical Traditions website. Rod is based in Stroud, Gloucestershire. https://www.mustrad.org.uk/

This sounds the most likely explanation, EnfieldPete..
So maybe a Mudcatter will be able to help to trace this if the original GUEST poster can supply a little more detail of the product?

No luck here. I email the contact address on the Website and got no response. There has been no activity on the website for two years.

Looks like the company has folded (or perhaps Rod Smith has died) although the website is still on-line with lots of very useful links. If someone had a copy of the CD-ROM and was prepared to sell it, I would pay over the odds for it; I think it cost about £15 Sterling but would gladly pay £50 to get another copy as there were words and music of several thousand songs, divided into various categories.

Rod Smith was posting to his youtube channel up to 4 years ago
https://m.youtube.com/@RodSmith0/videos

He has a personal website at rodsmith.org.uk, but it looks derelict to me. He also has twitter and facebook accounts if you use those.
