Can anyone identify the fiddle tune that begins at 9:40? I just listened to a whoooole bunch of fiddle music and couldn't find it. Thanks. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GT26O5re5Mk&list=PLofKYC6TXgl0MKFCYBfEvPz_IDrc8nUY8&index=2

Here's a more direct link: https://youtu.be/GT26O5re5Mk?t=576

I have a terrible ear for fiddle tunes, but a couple of early guesses:
- Altamont: https://www.slippery-hill.com/content/altamont
- Richmond Cotillion: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=E8DVXvVohVQ

Sounds to me like a version of "Sally Gooden" .

This guy is great:

Lighter, thanks, I think you are right. I have started a list of music used on the series which can be found here: https://moviechat.org/tt0057742/Daniel-Boone/64ec3c06253740466dfa77a4/Music-Used-on-the-Series I am also posting information on the Comments under the videos on YouTube.

Whether the tune was played in Boone's day is simply unknown: virtually nobody mentioned the titles of American fiddle tunes in that period.

There was a minstrel song called "Sallie Gooden and Jenny Weaver" in 1848, apparently to a different tune.

The earliest reference I've seen to "Sally Gooden" as a dance tune is from 1878 - in Minnesota!

This is all I can find: "Traditional fiddle tune said to have been renamed "Sally Goodin" during the Civil War. First recording and first release by A.C. (Eck) Robertson (1922/1923)"

"Said to have been."

By whom? On what evidence? Renamed from what? Color me skeptical.

It's probably no coincidence, though, that the 1848 minstrel song concerns two characters with fiddle-tune names.
