Subject: Lyr Req: Adios, Tus Ojos Lindos From: cnd Date: 09 Jan 24 - 10:24 AM Hello! I've been attempting to transcribe the lyrics to most albums in my collection but have been stumped by an obscure Spanish number performed by The Augmented Seven of Yale on their self-titled album, released 1965. Unfortunately, the disc and jacket provide no insight into the writer of the song, which is titled only "Adios" on both. While I'd like help with the lyrics, I'm also curious about the origins of the song. I imagine this will be easier once we have the right words. Listen to the song here: click (you may have to manually play the track) ADIOS Adios No quiero que te vay ????? Adios Tus ojos lindos me vieron Que tu me ????? Adios No quiero que te vay ???? Adios Tus ojos lindos me vieron Que tu me ???? Yo te amo que ???? Yo te amo que ??? Adios No quiero que te vay ???? Adios Tus ojos lindos me vieron Que tu me ????? The background vocalists also repeat a phrase in the background, which is "?????? yo te amo" |

Subject: RE: Lyr Req: Adios, Tus Ojos Lindos From: Monique Date: 09 Jan 24 - 03:43 PM Best guess: Adiós, no quiero que te vayas pero Adiós, tus ojos lindos verdes verán que tú me llamas a mí. Yo que amor quiere dar Yo, que ella no quiere dar. Yo te amo, querida Phrase by the background vocalists: Hasta la vista, yo te amo. Please note that it's our best guess (our = my niece, two of her Spanish-speaking friends and me). None of us is really sure because of the way they pronounce words ("perro" [dog] instead of "pero" [but], "quereda" instead of "querida"...) and because their grammar seems somewhat weird. |

Subject: RE: Lyr Req: Adios, Tus Ojos Lindos From: cnd Date: 09 Jan 24 - 05:00 PM Thanks Monique. That sounds pretty much right to my ears. I agree that their pronunciation of Spanish words leaves a lot to be desired. After further research, the group noted on another release (the one from which the audio file above is from [click] -- not my slightly different release [click], whose audio is not online but is nearly identical), their arrangement of the song was featured in the "A7 Songbook," obviously a songbook put out by the group in question here. I haven't been able to locate a copy, digital or otherwise, but should one surface, it would likely help identify the song's origin. |

Subject: RE: Lyr Req: Adios, Tus Ojos Lindos From: Monique Date: 11 Jan 24 - 10:49 AM Correction: they say "Yo te llamo querida". I suppose that they mean "I call you, darling" (not "I call you 'darling') since they say "Tú me llamas a mí" (You call me). |
