Subject: BS: Fakebook & your information for its AI From: Mr Red Date: 04 Oct 24 - 03:39 AM Fakebook messaged me and suggested I could object to their collection of data for Meta AI, so I did. The reply: We will honour your objection for your public information, such as public posts and comments. This means that we won't use your public information from Facebook and Instagram for future development and improvement of generative AI models for our AI at Meta features and experiences. Do we believe them? note the spelling of honour - they know I live in the UK cf US (or possibly Oz/NZ/SA etc) - so much for their honour! |
Subject: RE: BS: Fakebook & your information for its AI From: Backwoodsman Date: 04 Oct 24 - 09:52 AM I got the same message. The cynic in me says, “I’ll believe it when I see it”. |

Subject: RE: BS: Fakebook & your information for its AI From: Mr Red Date: 22 Jan 25 - 02:32 PM LLMs (AI in general) There was a BBC Radio 4 programme on AI, specifically "model collapse". Something I read about in the New Scientist going back more maybe a year. Basically "model collapse" is the AI analogue of positive feedback, or in an audio context "feedback" (which is technically positive - if not aurally). Positive feedback enhances, and with the complexity of an audio spectrum or the total content of the web - you can bet there will be places it quickly tips over into oscillation or polarisation (just as social media bubbles do) The worst fact from the programme is that even the experts admit the percentages of enhancement (they call synthetic data!!!!) are rising rapidly. AI will be as honest as the web first and amplify its worst at best. Will AI Et Itself My answer? - see above. What I didn't pick up from the programme was that the language that the AI will preset with will devolve to Sun-reader level. (for the USA make that Trumpspeak) |
