Help: A Midi/ABC with Owen Something In Title

Six months or so ago I helped a fellow Mudcatter to transcribe a Midi or ABC of a tune on a Web site. The only clue that I recall was that the title included the word 'James' or 'Owen' in it, the tune itself was a dedication to the composer's brother-in-law, there were only a small number of Midi files at the site and whatever was required was already available. Does the Catter involved remember the tune please? I've been trying to recall the music, but can't find it. Thanks, John

Sorry Joe, but that's not it! I don't believe that I posted the tune as it did not have lyrics, and I suspect that a lot of the dialogue was either through personal messages or email. The Mudcatter was a semi-regular though, even if not a prolific poster. It was a good tune though. Thanks, John

I think I wuz the one what done it. Was it "Owen James Bain?" Click here to listen to a MIDI, which is on this website, along with an abc and a gif.

(I don't know if the tune was on the site when I asked for help - I just now found it.)

Bill, the song you're looking for is called "By The Hush" or sometimes "Paddy's Lamentation." Mary Black does an excellent version with the Chieftains on the soundtrack for the PBS documentary "Long Journey Home: The Irish In America." BTW it's not "modern cannons," it's "murderin' cannons."

I just found this ancient thread. If it is *my* tune the correct title is "Owen James Baines" written for my stepson.
