Subject: Lyr Req: Shellback Song (NOT Holdstock & Macleod) From: GUEST Date: 06 Jan 25 - 06:04 PM Hello all; seeking lyrics/info on a song I can only remember partially. I know I had it on recording years ago, but I have been unable to find anything online so was hoping someone here would have an idea. The lyrics I can remember are as follows: He's been too long on the beach with the ocean out of reach Shellback, shellback, oh! Spends his time a-fishing, long beach-walks and reminiscing Shellback, shellback oh! But the sea is in his blood, his tide is at the flood He's looking for the chance to sail away For salt in the blood never goes away, he's got to go to sea one day He's seen clippers off the horn, as on the storms they're born Shellback, shellback, oh! <....> Shellback, shellback, oh! He's seen the southern stars, been in all the dives and bars. Sometimes he's wished that he was back at home But salt in the blood never goes away, he's got to go to sea one day Any help would be much appreciated; thanks very much |
