Ignoring the MAGA-hatted turd is probably the best way to pi$$ him off. He wanted to start a fight and he was ignored like an insignificant slug slithering down the street, not even worth stepping on it. LOL

Also, I have started watching The Late Show with Stephen Colbert. Yesterday I watched the show where Cyndi Lauper was a guest and she talked about Girls Just Want to Have Fundamental Rights Fund. People with high social profiles can make a big difference in the world when they direct their energies into worthwhile causes.

The shootings in Minnesota didn't factor into our participation in today's march. It is a separate issue - the fact that a zealot thinks he can kill the opponent by faking a police presence isn't something I considered. My daughter and a friend and I attended in Fort Worth, and felt safe. We saw some Trump folks, one even with a hat that promoted Trump; he walked down the sidewalk like he was hoping to draw fire. People treated him as the insignificant turd that he was.

We trooped all sorts of colors/colours today in downtown Fort Worth; the last message I had from the organizers before leaving the house was that over 2000 had sent an RSVP for a head count ahead of time. The park was crowded, peaceful, hot and muggy, and the event was well run. Couldn't hear a thing, it was like different zones of the park had different kinds of messages. Mostly we were bodies there with our signs, many of us with appropriate t-shirts (added to the message - mine was "No Kings In America"). I took photos and some short videos to post; we might as well flood the social media zone with protest photos and movies.

Getting ready to go to this event felt like preparing for a flight somewhere - packing light, efficiently, bail money and ID in a small wallet. I had my phone for a few photos and to connect with a friend who was joining us, but mostly I used a small digital camera purchased for this kind of event.

What is important about these #NoKing rallies today is that there were so many and they were so well attended. They pull eyeballs away from the Trump embarrassment in Washington, D.C. Donald Trump is a dud.

No MaJoC, it isn't. It is keeping the people safe in one state until the perp is caught. IMHO, it will motivate people to be even more vocal, either in future rallies or using other means of communication. It will possibly motivate more politicians to stand up and be counted.

Martyred politicians can have a huge impact towards the direction which is opposite to the aim of the perp. The shooters don't seem to realise that.

Of course, it is ludicrous to discriminate against a candidate for being a woman. I said earlier that the democratic male image is in crisis. If that can be countered with an appropriate candidate, we may be able to earn back many voters in the working middle class.

Senator Ted Kennedy told Obama that he should delay his run, not because of his opinion of Barack, but due to social dynamics in the short term. I was never happier when Obama won that I bought sparkling wine. However, it created an impetus for the low-education voters to eventually follow Trump.

Obama did not have the long vision of Ted Kennedy. He did not even see the ideological bent of Donald Trump. I may not be a fount of wisdom or have the long vision of Kennedy, but turning a social corner is best done when there will be a minimum of blowback.

Perhaps a democratic Joe Rogan does not exist but there is still a need for a vital democratic face.

When I was going through a particularly tough time at a very challenging workplace many years ago, a psychological counselor gave me some good advice: pick your battles.

Basically, you can't win them all so pick the most important battle(s) and put your energy behind that. Later the other battles can be tackled as and when needed but trying to win all the battles at one time is impossible.

I celebrated when Obama was elected and I will celebrate even more when Harris gets elected.

I'm talking from a political strategic standpoint. If the out-there rich white male is replaced with another out-there rich white male who has the same or similar personality quirks, strategically it might not be the right time to run a candidate against him whose chances in any ordinary presidential race might be less likely. But when running against a MAGA-style candidate the chances are probably even slimmer.

I liked the Biden-Harris strategy. Get Harris in as Vice President, then that helps to raise her profile and prove her worth. If any normal, *real* human being had been running for the Republicans she might have had a chance, but tactically, strategically it is important to run a candidate with the most chance for success when the situation is so far out of normality that it puts extreme pressure on the race for victory for the opposing candidate.

These are not normal times. These are extreme times. I never dreamt that the US would be so close to autocracy and so far from real democracy, but here it is. Desperate times call for desperate measures.

I thought that both times that the Democrats were trying to win office against Trump by running with with Hillary Clinton and Kamala Harris.

Now is not the time to try to elect a female President. Get that guy (or whichever Trump-clone runs next time) out of the running with an electable Democrat and when political and democratic life settles down and everything gets back to some sort of normality, then you can aim for a female president or someone else who represents the diversity of society. Wait until the odds are in the Democrats' favour instead of trying to oust the rich, white male by running a candidate whose chances are less strong even in the best of times.

Having said that, I think Kamala would make a great President so I hope and pray that she achieves that goal when the time is right.

I look behind the curtain in search of motives, and I see a manly Republican fist fight that further puts Democrats in the wuss category. Men are in crisis in dating, work, mental health, and education, and are 80% of America's suicides. I listen to teenagers who admire the Republican model man and see Democrats as fairies.
Sure, toxic masculinity is at the heart of the Republican model man, but the Democrats have ignored the male identity issue and have failed to attract younger males.

Not all ass holes are pugnacious and arrogant liars but the Republicans have made it mandatory to hold office. There needs to be an effective Democratic model man. An appropriate candidate can do a great deal to achieve that. Sorry, ladies, but another female Democratic Presidential candidate is a bad idea right now.
