Can't find the words to this once-popular song anywhere! Told folks I could surely find them here! Please help me maintain my shaky-but-still-intact reputation. . .

Subject: Lyr Add: AUF WIEDERSEH'N (Cole Porter)

There's also this one by Cole Porter.
-Joe Offer-

AUF WIEDERSEH'N
(Cole Porter)

Lynn Siebert's Thematic Catalogue of Porter's music notes that the music to "Auf Wiederseh'n" is almost identical to the music for "The Old-Fashioned Waltz" (HitchyKoo of 1922). Notations on manuscript copies indicate that "Auf Wiederseh'n" might also have been intended for the unproduced Porter show titled Ever Yours or Once Upon a Time (1933-1934).

VERSE
Somewhere I read
A poet who said
That parting was such a sweet sorrow.
I, too, can say
As you leave me today
That my sorrow is sweet
If tomorrow we meet.

REFRAIN

Auf Wiederseh'n,
Auf Wiederseh'n,
So fare thee well till we meet again,
For though we part,
We know, sweetheart,
Our love could not be in vain.
You'll trust in me,
I'll trust in you,
And soon we'll live in a dream come true.
So please don't cry,
It's not goodbye,
It's only Auf Wiederseh'n.
