When & where did you learn this song?

I'll try posting various versions with specific dates. Using
Ed Cray's notes for his unpublished Erotic Muse III and
other sources, I'll post up variant versions.

No chorus but note the repeat of the "Moose, moose. How I love a
moose" line.

Another recording by John Valby on the 1999 CD Half Fuckin' in the Bag
is exactly the same except he changes the homosexual "playing hide
the salami with Marvin the moose" to "Mable the moose".

I first heard the song in January 2024 at a singaround in Ely, Cambridgeshire, England from a member of Green River Tap and Die Molly Dancers, who had flown over from Massachusetts for the Ouse Washes Molly Day of Dance. A great bunch they are too!

In Scotland people listening might be confused by this ditty because our word "moose" sounds very much like the way they pronounce "mouse." Be careful where you sing this. The laughs you get may not be what you expect!
