Since it is no longer possible to post to brexit and other uk political topics, without getting message that it will not accept. I am asking for members opinions on Starmers Rescue. It seems;like a good idea to me but i have not studied his plan in detail

Now all we need is reliable sources of iron, limestone, & coal, to keep the steel production going.

We have plenty of coal beneath us - IIRC, estimated as ~200 years’ worth - just not the means of extracting it, thanks to your heroine, the foul Witch of Grantham.

It's big threads that are the problem, Dick. I will suggest that a new UK politics thread is started and that this one is incorporated in that.

I and many others would prefer it if coal mining was kept firmly in the past. Not only is burning fossil fuels harmful to the planet and environment but coal mining is a dreadful way to earn a living.

yes,Dave, but there is hypocrisy amongst polticians re burning of fossil fuels, there is much talk but nothing is done about pollotion caused from wars , or methane gas from cows in india which will never be sorted because of religious dogma.
Neither will the armaments industry pollution caused by wars be tackled. Politicians pick on people who are not powerful enough to fight back, but ignore industries that cause pollution that are powerful
