C'mon Dick. Give us a little more information, or don't bother posting. I take it you won second place in a lilting competition somewhere in Ireland. That's nice, but couldn't you tell us a bit about the experience?

Sorry I missed you Dick. I stopped in on the Sunday on the way back from the Ballyvourney Cruinniu Flute Gathering. Just saw your name in the programme just now.
To Joe - this was a County level Fleadh, which consists of musical competitions - instrumental and vocal - for 4 age groups. There are 39 categories listed in the programme, so that's over 150 competitions held over the 2 days. Numbers of entrants vary from 2 to 20, and even though many competitors enter more than 1 competition, that's still a hell of a lot of young musicians. We can only look on at this from Scotland with pure envy.
You can only be in one place at one time, so I went to hear the 15-18   [11 competitors]and senior flute competitions [4 competitors, only 2 turned up on the day ]. The standard was very, very high throughout.
