From Mary Geddry on Substack, commenting on the Pulitzer Prize Board’s response to being sued by the Fat, Orange Baboon. Makes perfect sense…

“This week’s installment of Trump v. Reality comes courtesy of the Pulitzer Prize Board, which has decided it is done indulging his tantrum and would now like to see… well, everything.

Medical records. Psychological records. Prescription histories. Tax returns. Financial holdings. Foreign gifts. Crypto assets. Liabilities. The Pulitzer Prize Board isn’t asking for a sliver of context or a carefully curated snapshot, they’re demanding the whole damn filing cabinet, prying open every drawer Trump has spent a decade slamming shut.

Oh yeah!, and while we’re at it, documentation proving that all those other lawsuits, the E. Jean Carroll cases, the CNN suit, the ABC settlement, the CBS meltdown, the Wall Street Journal–Epstein birthday card fiasco, actually caused the billions and billions of dollars in harm Trump keeps claiming. In short: Show us your work.

This is all unfolding in a defamation lawsuit Trump himself filed after the Pulitzer Prize Board committed the unforgivable sin of calmly explaining why it refused to rescind the 2018 prizes awarded to the New York Times and the Washington Post for their reporting on Russian interference and the Trump campaign. The Board commissioned two independent reviews. Those reviews found that nothing in the reporting had been discredited by later facts. The prizes stood.

Trump responded the way he always does when confronted with facts: he sued. According to Trump, the Board’s explanation defamed him. Emotionally devastated him. Ruined his reputation. Cost him untold wealth. Possibly disturbed the very molecules of his being. He demanded astronomical damages in Florida state court and waited, presumably, for everyone to cower.

Instead, the Pulitzer Prize Board chose violence. Their discovery requests are a thing of beauty. Not flashy, nor rhetorical, just brutally literal. If Trump is claiming emotional or physical injury, they would like the records supporting that claim, all of them, going back to January 1, 2015. Including prescription medications and annual physicals. And if he is not claiming such injuries, they would like him to say so in writing.

That sentence alone is doing more work than most congressional committees. Trump’s entire litigation persona depends on simultaneously being the most harmed man in America and the most private. He wants to claim catastrophic emotional damage without ever explaining what that damage looks like, who diagnosed it, or what treatment it required, if any. The Board has now forced him to choose: either the harm was real, or it wasn’t. And either way, the paper trail matters.

Then come the finances. The Board would like Trump’s tax returns from all jurisdictions, with all attachments, schedules, and worksheets, from 2015 to the present. They would also like documentation showing every source of income, every asset, every liability, and every gift worth $100,000 or more. If you’re going to claim you lost billions, they politely suggest we should probably see what you had in the first place, and who was giving it to you.

The lawsuit has stopped being about defamation and now looks like an unsolicited audit of Trump’s entire adult life.

And just when it seems it can’t get better, the Board turns Trump’s own legal hobby against him. If the Wall Street Journal injured him by reporting on his 2003 birthday letter to Jeffrey Epstein, then he must produce the documents. If E. Jean Carroll damaged his reputation, he must produce the documents, and reconcile them with the jury verdict finding him civilly liable for sexual assault. If CBS, CNN, and ABC cost him billions, he must show the proof. If being accurately described on television caused him harm, he must explain how.

Trump has filed hundreds of defamation lawsuits, each one inflating his supposed suffering to cartoonish proportions. The Pulitzer Prize Board has simply said: fine. Let’s see the evidence.

And here’s the part that makes this such a delicious spectacle: Trump always loses interest when discovery gets real.

We’ve seen this movie. When Michael Cohen fought back by immediately serving discovery and noticing Trump’s deposition, Trump delayed, dodged, claimed he was too busy, tried to push dates months out. Judges ordered him to sit. Trump blinked. And then, right on schedule, he dismissed the case and ran away rather than answer questions under oath.

The Board isn’t just defending journalism, it’s calling Trump’s bluff in the one arena where his bravado collapses: sworn testimony backed by documents.

Trump can posture on cable news, rage on social media, and file lawsuits by the dozen. What he cannot do, and has never been able to do, is withstand sustained, disciplined scrutiny of his records, his finances, or his health.

Trump will either comply and open the vaults, revealing a trove of information he has spent years fighting to keep hidden. Or he can do what history suggests he will do: stall, deflect, scream “witch hunt,” and eventually walk away from his own lawsuit rather than let anyone see what’s inside.

Either way, the rest of us get to enjoy the show. I’m stocked up on popcorn and Prosecco is chilling.

It's all about inflicting pain as they keep turning the screw to make more people unhappy and unhealthy. The removal of funding for treating young people who experience gender dysphoria is going to lead to a lot of suicides.

At one time I had my doubts if as many people who felt that was their condition were correct, or if they were easily influenced or following a trend. But that isn't my business, and furthermore, a lot of people have been helped and if they change their minds later that's up to them to deal with. It isn't up to Trump and his ilk to practice medicine without a license based upon what they think about a particular topic (in the Xtian Nationalist domain).

Thanks Raggy ~ I think I understand your posting ~ censoring "free speech" was a means employed by many dictators in the past and so it continues it seems

Govt should be by collective measures and not by a simple Executive order or Statutory Instrument with no previous discussion and consideration of the Impact of such law before Senate or Parliament in my view

To not do so is ultra vires and therefore illegal ~ a tool of a dictator of course

Social media has few outlets to complain and is therefore all powerful

Prior to that exchange, as soon as he wrapped up his speech, Trump turned to the two journalists present and asked: "You think that’s easy?"

He then sipped his Diet Coke before singling out New York Times photographer Doug Mills, telling him he'd rather be in his line of work, "just click click," the White House press pool report noted.

The world would rather he was in that line of work.

This is a Trump administration thread.

Unemployment is now 2/3 higher than under Biden. AI is already increasing unemployment. Fewer young people are hired and are replaced by AI. The year 2026 is expected to witness a sudden and drastic rise in job losses.

The credo of this administration is "if it ain't broke, break it".

Regarding concentration camps, I have seen the pictures of the former Japanese camp with continuous roofs instead of separate cabins.

However pathological you suspect Trump may be, he used to have an affable side...bing bing.
By the way he now admonishes reporters and is blatantly cruel and charges headlong into retribution, he is relishing his killing orders and immunity. He grinds his heel on American heroes without laughing, even though vengeful people believe he who laughs last laughs best.

He now expects to be worshipped under threat of treason.

Little Green worm.

Since you are so comfortable
hiring people whose minds have
been hollowed out by worms,
I’ve been thinking about

a little green worm that has
worked its way into
your anterior insular cortex,
the part of the brain

where empathy originates.
Empathy is the ability to understand,
feel, and share the emotions of
another person.

It is like a muscle,
which is to say:
you can develop it with practice.
The little green worm quickly devoured yours.

He then munched onward
until he came to
the prefrontal cortex,
which is involved in

impulse control
and regulating social behavior.
It’s meant to stop us from blurting out
vulgarities such as

“Grab her by the pussy” and
“Shithole countries” or accusing all
Mexican immigrants of being criminals,
rapists, and drug dealers.

There is one of your outbursts however,
which remains both
unfiltered and true:
“I could stand in the middle of 5th Avenue

and shoot someone,
and I wouldn’t lose any voters.”
What’s a little green worm to do
but munch on to the cerebrum,

which is the big one, responsible for thought,
language, memory, reasoning and learning,
for all the functions that make up basic
intelligence.

But oh shit: there’s nothing there.

Joan Baez

President Donald Trump drew swift backlash online Monday after claiming in a Truth Social post that filmmaker Rob Reiner and his wife Michele were killed because of Reiner’s opposition to him in what he called an “incurable” case of “Trump Derangement Syndrome.”

Reiner and his wife were found dead in their Brentwood home on Sunday with wounds consistent with a knife attack, one source told TheWrap on Sunday. Police arrested the couple’s son, Nick Reiner, on Sunday night, according to media reports.

“Rob Reiner, a tortured and struggling, but once very talented movie director and comedy star, has passed away, together with his wife, Michele, reportedly due to the anger he caused others through his massive, unyielding, and incurable affliction with a mind crippling disease known as TRUMP DERANGEMENT SYNDROME,” Trump posted to Truth Social Monday. “He was known to have driven people CRAZY by his raging obsession of President Donald J. Trump, with his obvious paranoia reaching new heights as the Trump Administration surpassed all goals and expectations of greatness, and with the Golden Age of America upon us, perhaps like never before. May Rob and Michele rest in peace!”

The meaning of "Anitifa" in the United States is a little misleading.

"Antifa" isn't commonly used to designate just anybody who opposes Fascism or who fought against it World War II.

When the right talks about "Antifa," they mean that teeny-tiny number of political thugs prepared to use violence not just against actual Fascism, but specifically and more often to advance communism or, possibly more often, anarchism. "Antifa" presumably consider FDR and the Clintons "Fascists." (I can remember when "Antifa's" predecessors, like the Weathermen, were stridently denouncing Johnson and Nixon as "Fascists.")

In right-wing fantasy, "Antifa" is all over the place.

But as so often has been said, there is no coordinated "Antifa" organization. Just a tiny, tiny, disorganized network of potentially dangerous nuts.

You'd think that since the Trump/MAGA groups are so hot to label anyone who opposes them "antifa" that they'd give it a moment's thought. Anti-fascists. Anti-Trump-who-is-fascist. They're characterizing themselves as fascists by naming groups they think are opponents.

Just a thought.

”Sandra, that gets into the kind of stuff discussed when Charlie Kirk was murdered. It wasn't, as Trump et al hoped "antifa," it was someone even more to the right who thought Kirk was too wishywashy.”

Which probably explains why we’re not hearing anything about the shooter and his prosecution, at least on major news outlets here in the UK. If he had been someone from The Left who did for Kirk, we’d never hear the end of it. The same situation seems to exist in regard to the guy who fired the shot that, if you believe in fairies at the bottom of the garden, ‘wounded’ Trump’s right shell-like.

And will someone please tell the MAGA dipshits that ‘Antifa’, as an organisation, does not exist - it’s a political movement

Seven things you need to know about Antifa

I realise I’m preaching to the converted on this Forum, but I see so much horse-puckey on the internet from Righties, I think it’s worth stating facts about the Anti-fascist Movement vs. their nonsense.

The BBC have censored the Reith lecture. It's just a small change, but I guess they are reluctant to face a lawsuit from someone with bottomless pockets, and dodgy judges.

“They deleted the sentence in which I described Donald Trump as the most openly corrupt president in American history. That line is gone.

“It has been removed from the version broadcast this morning on BBC Radio 4.

“Last Wednesday, I was told the sentence was being discussed with US lawyers and at the highest levels inside the BBC.

“For days, they couldn’t give me an answer. Yesterday they finally did, and the irony could not be bigger, because this lecture, titled A Time Of Monsters, is exactly about the cowardice of today’s elites, about universities, corporations, and yes, media networks, bending the knee to authoritarianism.

“I find it hard to express how shocked I am at the BBC’s decision.”

Bit of a long C&P from "the other 98%" on Facebook but worth a read. Scary stuff

"The Supreme Court is about to give Donald Trump the power to purge independent watchdogs — and crown itself the ultimate ruler over American democracy.

If you watched the justices during Trump v. Slaughter, you could feel it: this wasn’t a legal debate. It was the conservative majority announcing that the rules of American government are about to be rewritten — by them.

Here’s the setup. FTC Commissioner Rebecca Kelly Slaughter was protected by a 90-year-old precedent that prevents presidents from firing independent regulators just because they don’t fall in line.

That protection has been rock solid since Humphrey’s Executor in 1935. But last week, the Court’s conservative bloc basically rolled their eyes at it. Reuters reported Chief Justice John Roberts dismissed the precedent as a “dried husk.”

And the conservative justices all but announced they’re ready to let Trump fire her — and by extension, cripple the independence of dozens of agencies that exist to protect regular people. Reuters and AP both noted the Court appears poised to hand Trump broad power to remove agency heads at will.

But the most alarming part wasn’t what they said about Trump. It was what they said about themselves.

Several conservative justices floated an idea that should chill every American, no matter their politics: even if they give Trump sweeping control over the federal bureaucracy now, they can always “step in” later and slap down a future president they don’t like. The Guardian reported that the Court is essentially preparing to grant Trump the power now — while reserving a veto over a Democratic president’s actions later.

Imagine that. A Supreme Court that empowers one president and restrains another, depending on the politics of the moment.

That’s not constitutional interpretation. That’s unchecked power.

And they’ve already tested the strategy. Over the past few years, the conservative majority created the “major questions doctrine” — a legal weapon they’ve used almost exclusively to kneecap Joe Biden’s policies on climate, student debt, and public health.

Now they’re ready to combine that power with a presidency they hope to make even more imperial.

And let’s be clear about what collapses if agency independence dies: oversight of monopolies, environmental protections, worker rights, consumer safeguards — all the tools that exist to keep corporations from steamrolling the public. Politico reports that overturning Humphrey’s Executor would put the independence of dozens of agencies on the chopping block.

Under Trump, that means loyalty over expertise.Under a future Democratic president, that means the Supreme Court can simply veto anything it finds too “major.”

This isn’t checks and balances; it’s a rigged game where the refs wear team jerseys.

This moment isn’t about one case. It’s about whether the public still gets a say in how their government works. Whether democracy is something we participate in — or something the Court manages like a private estate.

If people don’t speak up now, the balance of power won’t just shift.

It will snap.

And the next president won’t be the only one calling the shots — the Supreme Court will be calling them right over his shoulder."

"Those folks seem to have been dipped in Teflon."

What makes crime dramas so popular and compelling includes the planning, committing of the crime, investigating the perpetrators, and, most importantly, the resolution and conviction of the criminals.

Hundreds of Trump's criminals have been convicted, but many have been pardoned, and then there is Trump, who is covered in toxic Teflon.

Trump is an unresolved crime at this point. Right now, he is like a dominant five 7 chord at the end of a song.

America needs its elitists back. The kind of elitists who are the virtuosos and experts of science, literature, art, and sociology.
Conservatives have long been conflating elitism with anti-intellectualism. Now look at the CDC or the Supreme Court. They are staffed with some people who have no more intellectual capacity than Charlie Fisk or Kristi Noem.

The poorly educated and loyalists to a criminal conspiracy are now in charge of great formerly democratic institutions. Even independent universities are bending the knee by way of extortion. Government by conspiracy theory, blogs, and a President who favors the Russian Secret Police over our own intelligence service is like turnocharged ignorance on steroids. Yes, I mix my metaphors, but at least they are my own words and not reposts of other people's opinions.

When it comes to science results, I do repost experts' findings often word-for-word. The only censorship I self-impose is that of sarcasm, which is either knowingly attacked or horribly misunderstood,

Trust or elite status is gained by drops but lost by buckets. While I am not among them, there are elitists in their field, even on this minor website. More power to those on the elitist path.

It's time to take elitism back from influencers, death threat creators, fashion police, cancel culturalists, and Nazi propagandist elites on the internet.

Yes, I'm surprised that Trump hasn't ejected Hegseth from his role yet. Surprising, considering how many people were ejected in his last fling in the White (or should I say Gold?) House.

Those folks seem to have been dipped in Teflon. I'll believe it when I see it if any of them are kicked out of this corrupt administration.

And in other good news, Pete Hegseth has been under investigation and is now trying to put his own spin on a very unfavourable outcome. Good luck with that.

I watched some excellent commentary about that today on PBS Washington Week With The Atlantic.

I saw some commentary on this on one of the episodes of The Late Show with Stephen Colbert this week.

Republicans just won an election in Tennessee but it's still bad news for Trump

[Note: The basic message in the article is that the election in Tennessee should have been favouring red more but the margin was quite slim.]

"When Mark Green announced his retirement from politics, it seemed to his Republican colleagues that refilling the seat would be an easy feat.

"Tennessee, and its newly vacant 7th congressional district, were firmly red strongholds.

"In the 2024 presidential election, Donald Trump won the district by 22 points.

"The last time Green went to an election, almost 60 per cent of voters cast their ballots for him.

"Indeed, a Democrat had not been elected to represent the 7th district in more than 40 years.

"So when Matt Van Epps, a former commissioner of the Tennessee Department of General Services, was chosen as the Republican candidate for the ensuing by-election, he seemed a shoo-in.

"The race did not quite pan out that way.

Van Epps did win when Tennessee went to the polls on Tuesday, but with a margin of just nine points, it did not come easy."

...

"The outcome cast a gloomy outlook for Republicans going into the 2026 mid-terms.

"Pundits say the party will need to defend more vulnerable seats than usual if they are to have any hope of keeping the House majority.

"'The danger signs are there, and we shouldn't have had to spend that kind of money to hold that kind of seat,' said Jason Roe, a national Republican strategist working on several of next year's battleground races.

"'The Democratic enthusiasm is dramatically higher than Republican enthusiasm.'

Cruz said his party had to 'set out the alarm bells' because next year was 'going to be a turnout election and the left will show up'."

So, that is a bit of good news. The Republicans will have to pull out all the stops at the mid-terms in case they lose their slim majority in the House of Representatives.

Hegseth said he stepped away prior to the double-tap on survivors.
This sounds likely since he often steps away to the washroom to possibly have a little drinky-poo.

There is supposedly a breakthrough in the investigation of who set explosive devices at both the Democratic and the Republican headquarters in D.C. the night before the Biden inauguration. The night before Trump sent his followers to take over the US Capitol. With the current administration skewing every investigation they can, who knows what the results will be.
