Subject: The Salt Path From: GUEST,FolkyPete Date: 06 Jul 25 - 02:18 AM Hi all…has any one read the article in today’s ‘Independent’ online regarding The Salt Path book/film? Chloe Hadjimatheou writes….’A couples redemptive journey from penuary and homelessness led to a best selling book. But the truth behind it is very different…’. Wow what a read. I’m actually not shocked really, I stopped reading the book after a couple of chapters as I felt that something just didn’t add up but I couldn’t put my finger on it. Well I guess the jury’s out on this one. Poetic licence or something else? I guess we’ll have to wait and see. The Salt Path has also been put on musically by the Gigspanner Big Band, so a folk music connection too. |

Subject: RE: The Salt Path From: Dave the Gnome Date: 06 Jul 25 - 07:58 AM Too many people now know that conning the public is an easy way to make money. These ones are not doing much harm when compared to the politcal fantasists we have but, yes, we need to take many things with a pinch of salt. Mind you, as the late great Ted Edwards once said to me, it started thousands of years ago with the bible :-D |

Subject: RE: The Salt Path book/film From: GUEST,Jerry Date: 08 Jul 25 - 03:45 AM I wonder whether the alleged irregularities in their back story accounts for the release of the film being put back month after month. The film makes more of the back story than the book does, as I recall, and I suspect that might be their eventual undoing. However, there’s little of relevance to roots music in all this that I’m aware of…. |

Subject: RE: The Salt Path book/film From: Hagman Date: 08 Jul 25 - 04:20 AM Strange though that these allegations appear after seven years. If true, then both the publisher and film companies didn't do their due diligence, or if they did and knew all the alleged background, it was a bit risky going ahead with the projects.... The medical doubts are the most sprurious, because they can't be confirmed or denied, just diagnosed. The alleged embezellment and money-loaning could/should be easily checked, I would have thought. The use of different names is neither here nor there, really - just ask Elton John. All presumably will be eventually revealed. And to return to the folkiness of all this, not sure what is happening with the current tour of the Gigspanner Big Band featuring Ms Winn. |

A statement from Winn's legal team said the author was "deeply sorry to let down those who were planning to attend the Saltlines tour, but while this [legal] process is ongoing, she will be unable to take part"." https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/articles/cm2z0707mlgo |

Subject: RE: The Salt Path book/film From: Noreen Date: 09 Jul 25 - 10:40 AM Saltlines Tour Update In view of the article that appeared in Sunday's Observer, we have been receiving numerous messages asking about the scheduled Saltlines Tour Dates. Here are statements from Raynor Winn's legal team and The Gigspanner Big Band... “Recent press coverage concerning Raynor Winn is highly misleading. As a result, Raynor is taking legal advice and will not be making any further comment at this time. She is deeply sorry to let down those who were planning to attend the Saltlines tour, but while this process is ongoing, she will be unable to take part. We appreciate your understanding and support during this time” Raynor Winn’s Legal Team Gigspanner Big Band’s Statement: It is very important to the Gigspanner Big Band that their performances go ahead as planned, and they instead intend to present their recently released, highly acclaimed, album Turnstone. We are currently in discussions with all of the venues on the upcoming tour to move forward with this plan, and we will keep you updated. It is time consuming, and your patience while we go through this process is requested and valued. If you have booked a ticket at one of these venues, the Theatre in question will contact you with further information as plans are confirmed. To date we are aware that Shrewsbury, Liverpool, Nottingham, Norwich and Chipping Campden are going ahead with suggested change of programming. Sale has chosen to cancel.
