Subject: Sue Harris - info gathering From: Tony Rees Date: 06 Oct 25 - 12:29 AM Hi all, I have recently been adding a bit of info to the pre-existing, but rather brief, Wikipedia article for Sue Harris (one time partner of John Kirkpatrick, and latterly concentrating more on singing and hammered dulcimer playing I believe) here. Surprisingly - unless I have missed them - she seems to have rarely troubled previous Mudcat discussions, but that is as may be; if readers would like to suggest any improvements to the article in its present state (which is a bit perfunctory on Sue's post-1992 activities in particular), I will be happy to add anything as appropriate (subject to Wikipedia's standard "reliable published source" requirements). Looking forward to anything new that readers might be ale to supply, Regards to all - Tony |

Subject: RE: Sue Harris - info gathering From: Tony Rees Date: 06 Oct 25 - 11:42 PM Just to clarify: the relevant portion of he article (not my text) currently reads: ---------------- [quote] Harris has also performed with Richard and Linda Thompson, and has been a composer for the BBC on various broadcast plays, as well as for live theatre. She is also a singer and has written music for choral groups.[citation needed] More recently, in 2008 she was leader of the "Wild Angels Community Choir" in Welshpool, Powys, Wales.[10] Following the World Dulcimer Congress held in Malvern, Worcestershire in 2015, Harris formed the English Dulcimer Duo with Lisa Warburton. The duo has toured extensively, performing a repertoire of English and Welsh tunes.[11] [end quote] ----------------- Where citations are given, e.g. [10], [11], the text is probably fine although possibly could still be incomplete. Where it says [citation needed], Wikipedia (these days) needs at least a reliable source for this information; better still would be some unpacking as to what plays, what live theatre, which choral groups... (you will see the general idea). The focus, again these days (maye not always so in earlier times) is to convey information that is correct (hopefully!), reasonably detailed, and verifiable from "reliable" third party sources. Thanks for reading! - Tony |

Subject: RE: Sue Harris - info gathering From: Tony Rees Date: 07 Oct 25 - 02:33 PM OK, both the above are of interest. I will contact Sue via Facebook to see if she is interested in providing or pointing to any additional material for the article along the lines described above (the additional material will of course have to exist "out there" somewhere already, in general for Wikipedia use it cannot comprise otherwise unpublished information passed between two persons e.g. via email or a Facebook discussion). Thanks - Tony |

Subject: RE: Sue Harris - info gathering From: GUEST,Howard Jones Date: 14 Nov 25 - 09:09 AM I can see a couple of errors in the Wikipedia piece. According to the sleeve notes to their latest album John and Sue made five albums together, but there were other projects they both appeared on, so it is complicated. John has a full discography on his website. Benji is their second son (and also plays on the album). They are both lovely people as well as superb musicians, and it is a delight to hear them playing together again on the new album. |
