I've just found out that Jean Blanchard, musician, researcher and fervent collector of French traditional music, has died in the city of Lyon in October 28, 2025. He co-founded the La Cbanterelle Folk club in Lyon and the folk band La Bamboche during the 1970s, and he sang and violin, the cabrette bagpipes, the diatonic accordion and the banjo. During the 80s, he permormed in Llantrisant Folk Club twice with the Beau Temps Sur La Provence trio, with marvellous hurdy-gurdy musician Evelyne Girardon, and Jean and Evelyne stayed two nights at our home. He will be remembered for a very long time.
