Hello friends! Long time lurker here. I was wondering if anyone has the lyrics available for Alistair Hulett's track "SLeepy Scotland." It seems like its not anywhere on the internet. Anyone with knowledge of Scots that might be able to explain his rich language would be very much appreciated. Thank you!

Well, there's a YouTube Channel called Sleepy Scotland (click). It has two one-hour recordings, but I don't know if the actual song is on either.

Oh, and then there's this from the album of the same title: In Sleepy Scotland

I'm not very good at Scots. Can somebody transcribe this?

Oh, and you can purchase the track at https://soundcloud.com/alistairhulett/in-sleepy-scotland

Alistar Hulett's liner notes:

I wrote this after reading James D. Young's excellent book, 'The Rousing Of The Scottish Working Class’. During the 19th century, trade unionists in England commonly referred to the situation north of the border as 'Sleepy Scotland', where drunkenness and sectarianism resulted in a passive working class, considered unable to challenge capitalism. The immense upheaval known as Red Clydeside put an end to that theory during the years of the First World War. To this day the legacy of Sleepy Scotland survives alongside the legend of Red Clyde.
