Subject: What song is this lyric from? From: GUEST,unknown band Date: 10 Jan 26 - 08:06 PM I have a lyric in my head and I want to know what the song is and who did it. I think it's an English band and maybe from the 80s, but I can't be sure. The lyric runs "yes, yes, my dear, maybe next year and maybe even now" |

Subject: RE: What song is this lyric from? From: Helen Date: 10 Jan 26 - 09:43 PM Hi Guest, Earworms can be a problem, especially if you only have one or two lines of the song in your head. I tried searching for variations of the lines but no luck. To help with the search could you provide any more information, please? The usual questions: Do you remember any more of the lyrics or the story line if the song? Please post what you remember to help with internet searches. Can you identify the style of the music? Folk, rock, hard rock, pop, or something else? Do you remember if the singer(s) are male, female, a group, solo? Musicians? what instruments were used? Lively, haunting, slow, fast, dance tune, etc, etc? Any more information would be helpful. |

Subject: RE: What song is this lyric from? From: Helen Date: 10 Jan 26 - 09:48 PM As soon as I posted that message I realised why the last bit of the lyrics sounded familiar. This is probably not the song you are looking for but the last line is: "Well, maybe next year..." Send in the Clowns - Stephen Sondheim |

Subject: RE: What song is this lyric from? From: Stilly River Sage Date: 10 Jan 26 - 10:41 PM That song is an earworm! I've had it run through my head a few times in the past (it's a lot less annoying than 76 Trombones). |

Subject: RE: What song is this lyric from? From: Helen Date: 10 Jan 26 - 11:15 PM Well I had the joy of seeing Cleo Laine perform it live many years ago. Her version was brilliant. There was no harp accompaniment like this video so that was disappointing but her husband John Dankworth was amazing in the concert too. Cleo Laine - Send in the Clowns |
