The usual thread length limit here these days is 700 and we're skating very close to that edge. The last thread was called Drumpf - Epstein Friend/US Prez 47/ War Criminal* and will be closed (too many posts would make it disappear).

Just as I can't stand to listen to his voice on the news, I can't bring myself to write than scoundrel's name in the title, hence using the family name from before his grandfather immigrated and changed it. Grandfather Drumpf/t went back and forth from Germany/Austria to the US from 1885 on, but (no surprise) the Austrians thought he was trying to evade the draft so he left for good. The name changed in the US to Trumpf, then to Trump. (Source: RBC-Ukraine)

Thanks SRS for keeping this topic open- although I'll be celebrating when we don't have to keep talking about that idiot - and thanks for the explanation about the name Drmpf. I had assumed it was a derogatory term and it might deflect internet searchers from finding out what the thread was really about.

Could this be the ship redesign topic you were referring to at the end of the last thread? (BTW, just when I think he can't become even more whacky and stupid he wants to go back in time and install a system which requires more personnel to operate even though there are significant losses of navy personnel available.)

In the 15 years I have posted about Trump, I have been accused of obsessive confirmation bias, but the conclusion that Trump is a self-indulgent evil man found me and was not just a pre-formed bias.
It appears most people have come to a similar conclusion.

There are economic reasons why Trump says he loves inflation. When he can delay payments for years with dollars that are worth less now he saves money. Also, debt creates a false money supply for banks.

The US debt is now 40 trillion dollars. The deficit is the outrageous interest we must pay to sustain the debt.

I can't remember where I read about it, but: Certain cults (the term "joiner religions" was used) have a natural life cycle. They start out small, then their expansion is slow but accelerating^† until they dominate; once they hit some limit, there's a catastrophic collapse back to the small hard core, which is their way of surviving through the hard times until the next expansion phase. Army Secretary Daniel P. Driscoll, the service’s top civilian leader, is also expected to leave the administration in the next few months and has already moved out of the large family house that he was renting in Fort Myer, outside Washington, officials said.

Those are the generals who favored learning as much as possible about drone warfare, so that may be why Hegseth is against them. From The Hill:

The U.S. Army plans to phase out a drone unit that was studying and incorporating lessons from foreign wars, including the use of uncrewed systems in the Russia-Ukraine war, an Army official confirmed to The Hill on Thursday.

The infantry battalion, known as the Unmanned Assault Battalion, will participate at the Joint Multinational Readiness Center this month and next month in Germany. After the exercises, the battalion will “refocus on its core warfighting tasks as an airborne infantry battalion assigned to a Mobile Brigade Combat Team (Airborne),” the official said.

The unit is part of the 173rd Airborne Brigade, a quick-reaction light infantry brigade team stationed in Vicenza, Italy. It was championed by former Army Chief of Staff Gen. Randy George, who was ousted by Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth earlier this year.

The U.S. Army Europe and Africa, with the backing of the Army and U.S. European Command, tasked the infantry battalion to “prototype an employment concept for a tactical unmanned systems battalion,” the official said.

They will always offer a threat if they don't get their way. Now that we know he's capable of tearing down national treasures at a moment's notice, I'm sure there are many eyes trained on any heavy equipment that might approach the Kennedy Center. Meanwhile they're racing to put up that Colossus of Toads (apologies to toads) ballroom so they're so far along courts can't make them stop if the Democrats take the House and or Senate in November. If they win in November, the period from November 3, 2026 and January 3, 2027 will be a super crazy time as they do as much damage as possible before the new tenants get their hands on the lease.

Meanwhile, any resource extraction company with a functioning board or management is going to know that if they try to go into the Arctic now or into Wilderness areas they will pay a lot for the roads and equipment and that takes time.
