Joe Val BG Festival: anyone going?

The 15th Joe Val Bluegrass Festival is going to be held on Feb 18-20, 2000 at the Dedham Holiday Inn in Dedham, Massachusetts, USA. I've never been to it, and in fact have never been to an INDOOR bluegrass festival, but we're planning to go. Sounds like a great weekend getaway to help get through February.

All I know about the event is what they say on the Boston Bluegrass Union web site: http://www.bbu.org/

Are there any mudcats planning to go?

Well, here I am 2 years later, after having gone to the last 2 Joe Val festivals. It's coming up THIS WEEKEND, Feb 15-17, 2002 and we will be there, if any mudcats care to look us up.

This is a fun time cocooning in a hotel with round-the-clock music on the stage as well as in the workshop rooms, public jam rooms, lobby and private rooms in the "picking wing" of the hotel. There's a restaurant on-prem as well as snacks in the concert area and other food places nearby. The hotel is sold out, but day-trippers can still go.

Barbara, thanks for reminding us. I'd love to attend this festival. It sounds like a great one. Maybe one day. This year I have a community theater production to direct that will keep me close to home until April.

Until then, I just have to settle for playing all my old Joe Val records. <g>

OK, I took a 4 year break from this thread. (Unlike the NEFFA thread, I don't think we need a new one every year).

Anyone going for 2008? It's still at the Sheraton in Framingham and sells out every year. Very good time, especially if you get a room on a "pickin" floor where you can play all night.
