I thought that this was going to be easy! The tune isn't in the Digital Tradition, nor can I find it in my first searches of the Web using Midi Explorer. I'm moderately certain that I've seen a MIDI of it on the Web in the past. Before I go chasing a copy of the printed score, has anyone else had any more luck than I? Regards, John

John--I thought it would be easy too, but no luck.

loiq--If you have a midi of a song, you can use midi sequencing software to work backwards and see the written music. I have Cakewalk 3.0 which will let me see the staff view but will not print it out. I think higher versions will actually print out the score.

This really isn't particularly helpful except that you can see the musical notation. If you want sheet music, it really is better to just buy it.

I haven't searched for places to buy sheet music of this particular song but assume a search engine would turn some up. I found some rare opera sheet music just by searching for sellers, then writing to them and purchasing the book.

Mary

Several programs will import midi and print sheet music. Noteworthy composer; Music Ease; and others....

I guess that this is as good a place as any to mention it! There is some new FREEWARE available, known as Midi Notate. It is available on the Web, is not too large, installs easily and is fairly straight forward to print your desired music. As far as I can tell it won't print lyrics.

Midi Notate is somewhat of a misnomer, because it won't allow you to compose or notate anything. Just input the Midi you want, select which of the music channels you wish to print, select a font size in the Preview Screen and Print.

I recommend it for all Catters except MMario who should try the new Beta version of NoteWorthy Composer, which allegedly allows you to alter the length of staves when you print. It wasn't very obvious to me how this is achieved, but I only had a brief look at the new version which I installed. My apologies in advance if I have misread the new beta features.

Regards, John

Subject: Lyr/Chords Add: A DAISY A DAY (Judd Strunk)
From: Bugsy
Date: 04 Feb 00 - 12:55 AM

Don't have the sheet music but lyrics/chords as follows:

A DAISY A DAY - Judd Strunk.

(G) He remembers the first time he met her.
(C) He remembers the first thing she (G) said.
He re- (C) members the first time he (G) held her, (Em)
And the (D) night that she came to his bed. (D7)
He re- (G) members her sweet way of saying,
(C) "Honey, has something gone (G) wrong?"
He re- (C) members the fun and the (G) teasing, (Em)
And the (G) reason he (D) wrote her this song: (G)

CHORUS: (G) I'll give you a daisy a day, dear.
I'll (C) give you a daisy a (G) day.
I'll (C) love you until the (G) rivers run (Em) still
And the (G) four winds we (D) know blow a- (G) way.

They would walk down the street in the evening,
And for years, I would see them go by,
And a love that held more than the clothes that they wore
Could be seen in the gleam of their eyes.
As a kid, they would take me for candy,
And I'd love to go tagging along.
They'd hold hands as they walked to the corner.
Then the old man would sing her this song: CHORUS

Now he walks down the street in the evening,
And he stops by the old candy store,
And I somehow believe he's believing
That he's holding her hand like before,
For he feels all her love walking with him,
And he smiles at the things she might say.
Then the old man walks up to the hilltop
And he gives her a daisy a day. CHORUS

End

Hope this helps

Cheers
Bugsy

I hadn't thought of that song in years. I remember hearing it for the first time and feeling tears well in my eyes.

Thank you for reminding me of it. I think I'll try playing it.

I got hold of the sheet music this afternoon and will attempt to notate it in the next few hours, if not then tomorrow. I will email it to you - please bear in mind that it won't have the lyrics and chords embedded in the sheet music. Is this OK Pastor? Regards, John.

sorry Pastor, in my haste to accommodate where I could, I failed to read your complete posting.

Bit stupid of me posting words and chords when you said you already had them.

Cheers

Bugsy

John, I hope you will be successful. Some one suggested that I buy the sheet music unfortunately it is not now in print. I know that MGM - "The Big Three" hold the copyright.

Hi Pastor, I managed to kill my PC over the weekend, so please bear with me for a little while. If this is really urgent please let me know - I do have the score now but I have a rehearsal tonight. Hope to find out tonight whether we have a part in the Olympics opening ceremony in Brisbane (before the big bang opening in Sydney). Regards, John

John, I really need that music as soon as I can get it. We want to use the song for a Valentine banquet on February 12th. There is a very special older couple we want to sing this song for. I would be happy to pay for you to fax us a copy if nothing else can be done. Thanks so much for your kindness in trying to help.I have not been able to find the song anywhere. I have searched the web the best I know now, (that is not saying a lot) and have looked in ever used book store in the area for a copy. Anything you can do would be deeply appreciated.

Pastor, keep an eye out for your e-mail, I'm sending this in three parts, each attachment being about 1.1 Meg - they are .bmp files which should give you quite good clarity. Please confirm that arrive OK and that you are able to print them satisfactorily. If there's any problem let me know at johninbrisbane@hotbot.com
