Subject: Sessions in Halifax From: George Seto - af221@chebucto.ns.ca Date: 08 Feb 00 - 07:36 PM Here in Halifax, we seem to have an abundance of musicians, and time to play. There are innumerable private sessions, but here are a few of the open to the public ones. Thursday night 9PM - Dwayne Coté hosts - Holiday Inn, Robie and Quinpool. Sunday evening 6PM - Vince Morash, host - Dandelion Café - Spring Garden by Robie - Runs until 9PM Monday night - Irish (no singing) session at the Grad House at Dalhousie University. Starts around 9/10PM |

I think there is a Blues one which runs at Bearly's on Saturday evening. Besides the weekly ones mentioned, there is the monthly pub nights of the Harbour Folk Society, Open Mic sessions are held between the featured act's performances. |

Subject: RE: Sessions in Halifax From: Helen Date: 09 Feb 00 - 05:43 AM George, I have wanted to go to Halifax, Nova Scotia since I read a novel written by Robert McNeil called Burden of Desire. the map and description of the hill and the harbour seem to be so similar to Newcastle, New South Wales, Oz, where I live. I read the book very soon after the Newcastle earthquake in 1989, so the scenes of post disaster recovery was very familiar too. I'll get there one day, and when I do, I'll go to some of these sessions. Helen |
