Subject: Posting A Message
From: GUEST,Don Stallone
Date: 11 Feb 00 - 08:16 AM

I've tried 2 days in a row to post a message and have been unable to locate it among the threads I see. I have filled in all the spaces and clicked the "Submit Message" button afterwards. What am I doing wrong? Please advise.

Don,
from what you describe you have made it correct. After "submit" you should see the thread you have posted too in top of all threads. However, searching for your name I find no sign of any entry. For a try, post again to this thread.

Wolfgang

After you submit try the reload button on your browser, see if that works.

Don, do whatever you did to post this message. It worked.

I know this really belongs in the "MC improvements" thread - but it would be really nice if the Posting box had a "pre-view" button so you could see your post with your attemps at embedding HTML applied to it.

Other than that - my apologies for a few double-postings of late; timeout problems . . (that's my excuse and I'm sticking to it)

G.

To see your post, instead of reloading after you submit a message, hit "Refresh" on the Mudcat header. It will bring you up to the minute. Otherwise you're looking at what was current the minute you first downloaded Mudcat that time.

To repeat, for emphasis, do *not* hit the "reload" key. That will result in multiples. Always use the "refresh" button at the top of the Forum page. Like many others, I learned that the hard way, by embarrassing myself.

best,

bbc

The other one I have discovered (the hard way) is if you get an error such as a time out, it pays to go back and check whether the post was successful or not.

I have had 2 errors today while posting. One had gone through but the other hadn't. I find that the best plan in those situations is to use the back button to go back to what I had typed and copy it just in case, so I have the option of pasting later rather than typing in again before trying to view the thread.

Jon
