The best answer was not very mysterious. It was simply that all that bubbling talent decided to pursue their carreers individually and quite successfully by the looks of it. Subject: RE: BS: answer to why planxty disbanded From: Liam's Brother Date: 16 Feb 00 - 11:43 AM I knew Paul Brady quite well when he played in Planxty. I came to know Johnny Moynihan afterwards. The group played many high profile gigs but had high expenses. For example, there was no such thing as a cheap airfare (to travel on business) in Europe at that time and they did not record directly for the record company but for a production company. I think the reasons were artistic and economic.
