I got bamboozled into doing the sound effects for a play a friend is directing. I don't think I like the play, but I got my arm twisted. It's about an American tourist who goes to Mexico and becomes Emiliano Zapata - although I don't think I quite understand how that happens.

Anyhow, one scene calls for a trumpeter to play "El Niño Perdido" (The Lost Boy), which I believe is a Mexican folk song. I searched everywhere I can think of, but I can't find the music. Can anybody lead me to a MIDI or sheet music for this song? I've got the trumpeter, I think.
Thanks.

Joe, there are a lyrics here, Spanish and English, with a sound track, but it says it is only partial. I'll keep looking.

Well, I'm not sure this is what Joe wants. I discovered it is also a play/musical suite? by a New Mexican (deceased) named Juan Ruel.I think what I found may be the text/score for the whole thing, not the folk song it was based on. I left messages on 2 Spaninsh speaking BB,s last nite, I'll check them in a minute to see if I had any luck.

No responses on either board yet--these folks aren't as fast as 'Catters! and there is a MIDI file here, if you can print from midis.

Aaaargh! Say, Sorcha, none of those links lead to what I'm looking for, but thanks for trying. I got my hopes up when you posted a link to a MIDI because that would have worked perfectly for me, but what you linked to is just CDDB, a database of CD titles with a listing of the song titles on each CD. Only one of the CD's listed with that song is available, and that one costs $45.
Keep looking, though. There MUST be a Spanish-language MIDI site that has it. Thanks.

D!@#$ My audio is out, so I couldn't even try it. I've got to get the audio fixed so I can listen to the radio!Worked OK til I installed the printer--had a port conflict so now I don't have audio, and may need a new sound card. Even the San Antonio site wasn't it? (You did have to scroll down to find El Nino. I did find a page that said it was "on sale, $10 off the $51.95 price", but, 1)the page could not be found, and 2)I didn't think what you needed was worht $51, so that probly wasn't it either.

Nope, Sorcha, don't think the San Antonio thing will help, either. I'm not all that concerned. Like I say, it ain't much of a play, and I ain't all that enthusiastic about having to do it. If the director can't find the music he wants, I'll give him a Herb Alpert cut....
Thanks a lot for trying to help, though. I think if we could find the song, we might find it interesting (at least, a bit more interesting than the play).

I'll bet the Original Juan Ruel is better. Do you have a deadline, here?

Have a tape of Nino Perdido. Could copy and send if I knew where. Don't know of any commercial recordings. Probably could find the written music if I look.

I don't know how to find YOU, unless you send your e mail address to bbc's home page, but I do have Joe's snail mail address. I won't post it here; let's wait 24 hrs and see if Joe checks back in. Have you figured out the personal message part of the Forum yet? And check out Quick Links, click the down arrow, and you will get choices, then click go.
