I just played the Sweet Bye and Bye on Sunday, and you can find the lyrics in most any old hymnal. I think it is a Baptist favorite Hardiman

Ever consider drafting a starving college student? If you are in a metropolitan area, chances are good that either there is a class in Turkish, or a Turkish student who could use a few bucks. Check it out with the counselor.

Subject: DT Correction: Sweet By and By
From: Joe Offer
Date: 16 Oct 22 - 09:07 PM

The Digital Tradition spells the title of this song "Sweet Bye and Bye," but most sources spell it "Sweet By and By." The DT has the songwriter as Samuel F. Bennett (Sanford Fillmore Bennett wrote the song in 1868). Here are the Digital Tradition lyrics, with the title and songwriter corrected:

SWEET BY AND BY
(Sanford Fillmore Bennett and J. P. Webster)

There's a land that is fairer than day,
And by faith we can see it afar;
For the Father waits over the way
To prepare us a dwelling place there.

CHORUS:
In the sweet (in the sweet)
By and by (by and by)
We shall meet on that beautiful shore;
In the sweet (in the sweet)
By and by (by and by)
We shall meet on that beautiful shore.

We shall sing on that beautiful shore
The melodious songs of the blest,
And our spirits shall sorrow no more
Not a sigh for the blessing of rest.

To our bountiful father above
We will offer our tribute of praise;
For the glorious gift of His love
And the blessings that hallow our days.

Subject: ADD: In the Sweet Bye and Bye (Bryan & Von Tilzer)
From: Joe Offer

BUT.....

There IS a song titled "Sweet Bye and Bye," written in 1902 by lyricist Vincent Bryan and the prolific composer Harry von Tilzer.

IN THE SWEET BYE AND BYE

(Vincent Bryan, music by Harry von Tilzer)

Brightly the moonlight is shining,
Down through the trees from above,
Two lovers wait, by the old garden gate,
Telling tales of love.
He bids the maid cease repining,
Whispering: Sweetheart, don't sigh!
Soon you and I will be happy
In the sweet bye and bye.

CHORUS:
In the sweet bye and bye,
In the sweet bye and bye,
We'll have a cottage that's built for two,
Then lovey'll love dovey
And dovey'll love oo;
In the sweet bye and bye,
In the sweet bye and bye,
Love's dream will seem sweet as peaches and cream,
In the sweet bye and bye.

"After the winter is over,
After the summer is done,
I'll have a cot in a shady green spot
With my only one;
Hand in hand, down through the clover,
When work is over we'll stray;
Then we'll forget all our sorrows,
Watching baby play.

Never in my life have I come across a song with a line like this:
    Then lovey'll love dovey
    And dovey'll love oo;

I just HAD to post it. Boy, they don't write songs like that anymore. Good thing, too....
