WE'VE COME A LONG WAY was written by Kate McGarrigle.

Tommy Makem & Liam Clancy sing it on "We've Come a Long Way" (1989). It's also on "Yes...Those Were the Days: The Essential Liam Clancy" (2007).

The Dady Brothers sing it on "Irish Folk Fest" (2008).

Kate & Anna McGarrigle recorded it under the title COME A LONG WAY on their albums "Dancer with Bruised Knees" and "Tell My Sister". Lyrics are on their web site here.

Loudon Wainwright III sang it (as COME A LONG WAY) on "Attempted Mustache" and "Dead Skunk: The Complete Columbia Collection."

i seem to remember the 'we've come a long way' chorus was actually a first verse repeated only once at the end on 'Attempted mustache' LP?

I have neve heard the McGarrigle's do this song. I learned it from Tommy Makem and Liam Clancy. These are the chords I use through out.
