Hi

We've been asked to come up with a slogan for our (University) pub, and I was thinking about an old Silly Wizard song. Think Andy M. wrote it himself - it's called "The Queen of Argyle"

The phrase I would like to use is something like: "... a place of thinkers, noble scolars and great drinkers....."

The author isn't mentioned here, or on the Best of Silly Wizard LP I have, but I thought it was written by Andy M.

We saw him performing twice last weekend & met him afterwards. Great performance, including The Queen of Argyll.

I actually tried to check the DT, obviously with wrong word and another spelling of Argyll.... Anyway, thanks for the help!

I envy you Alan - I've heard him a few times as well, but it's been a few years now. Does he still sing the hilarious "Errant Apprentice"?

MAN! I love this song! He did a absolutely RULING rendition of it with Gerry O'Beirne at Wolftrap in '96, I think. I do my best imitation of Andy on this song, especially the little growly things he does!

Anyone who downloaded the MP3... are they singing "And the marble in her smile"??? Since when did she have false teeth? What was wrong with "Morning in her smile"??? I've heard of libertys taken with lyrics, but to change them so they don't make sence???

One would not presume to rewrite Shakespear...

This is a real favorite to play. Andy has a book out, with several really top-notch songs, I highly recommend popping for the 20$ and getting it. It also has "If I were a Blackbird" and the "Loch Tay Boat song" which we also love
