Came here by accident or perhaps fate. When I saw the kind of place it was, I asked a question about a song (I called it The Plains of Abraham).

Not only did I get the right name (The Battle of Quebec or Brave Wolfe), Sorcha (again, thanks) sent annotated lyrics. I've been looking, on and off, for a long time.

I live in Nassau County NY. Been playing since 1960. Guitar, banjo and mandolin mostly.

Does anyone know of folk-blue grass-blues musicians who like to jam but not do gigs in the Long Island, NY area? (perferably those with gray hair).

Hello to all.

Well some are impressed by almost anything. - Thanks for the compliment Philj2000 - For pickers, grinners, singers, and jammers try the NYC Pinewoods Folk Music Club. They have numerous gettogethers each month. If you're not familiar with them, let me know. I'll send their tele and email and web site addresses to you. Welcome aboard! From an aging grey guy in the heartland

Howdy, Philj, glad to have a relatively sane human in the zoo...we used to have a breeding pair but one of them died.

Most of us are gray haired, either physically or spiritually, some both, a few neither. Two of us are totally loose cannons, but I will leave it to you to find out who the other one is... (:>)

Where there's hair on the Mudcat it tends to be grey. With some notable exceptions.

Grey is Beautiful. (Well, my hair actually is white, but that would give a slogan open to misinterpretation.)

Don't let 'em fool ya, though. There's red and raven in the Mudcat hair inventory too!

Yessum, hair ranges from ain't to is around here. Some in between that have some but not all over. Myself, I'm at the age where when I do go to a barber (maybe once every two years whether I need it or not) I ask him to take some off the side and put it on top. Welcome Philj....And don't believe everything Amos sez, there's more than TWO loose cannons on this board....

Cannon to right of them,
Cannon to left of them,
Cannon in front of them
Volleyed and thunder'd;

(loosely speaking..*grin*)

Amos, learn to count!

Hi Philj, don't forget to spend some time roaming through all the site features-- some of them are ALMOST as much fun as the people here.

How about it, gang? Does he get a poem?

Be careful how often you log on - this site can get addicting. But all the addicts here can give you a pleasent experience, as long as you do not take yourself too seriously. Welcome! MarkS

And a big Hello from North Idaho. You're welcome to come out here and pick. I've got seven instruments hanging on the living room wall. Can"t play 'em all at once,so anyone else is welcome.
Don't have anybody to pick with so I mostly just play with myself.

It takes so little to impress.......Now if you'd said you had a fixation on possum butts, well that would have been something Philj.....But welcome to the 'Cat anyway.
