Subject: Bombardon - what is it? From: richardw Date: 10 Mar 00 - 03:07 PM In researching music during the 1860s & 70s I have come across a small orchestra in a goldrush town that includes a bombardon as their bass instrument, and a clannett. I believe the bombardon was a medieval instrument similar to a basson but evidently in the 1800s it referred to a brass instrument. Any ideas? And a claanett? I assume it is some kind of woodwind like a clarinet. richard |
