Subject: RE: New profiles at bbc's Mudcat Resources From: bbc Date: 11 Mar 00 - 03:22 PM Well, here I go, descending into thread creep on my own thread, but it's for an educational purpose. 5th Disease was discovered about 100 years ago. It was the "5th" of the childhood illnesses associated w/ a rash--measles, German measles, chicken pox, & scarlet fever preceding it. It is viral & has some interesting symptoms. Not usually very serious, but, in adults, after-effects can stay w/ you for months or years. Hope I don't get those! bbc |
Subject: RE: New profiles at bbc's Mudcat Resources From: McGrath of Harlow Date: 11 Mar 00 - 02:44 PM Something else to worry about... "Fifth Disease" - terrifying label, like something out of the X-files. Makes you think about the Fifth Horsdeman of the Apocalypse or something on the same lines. <> Do other diseases have numbers? Like species assimilated byn the Borg in Star Treck? But I'dhave thought by this time we'd have got to rather higher numbers than that for any new arrival. You could work it into a maligerer's version of "The 12 days of Christmas, in place of Five Gold Rings." "On the First Day of Illness my doctor said to me - a slight case of helico-b..." |
Subject: RE: New profiles at bbc's Mudcat Resources From: bbc Date: 11 Mar 00 - 02:22 PM I did a search & found some very good info. I was just curious if others are familiar w/ this disease. I wasn't, until I saw kids all over my school w/ bright red cheeks! bbc |

Subject: New profiles at bbc's Mudcat Resources From: bbc Date: 11 Mar 00 - 01:21 PM Hi, folks, I finally took the time to put up profiles for the following Mudcatters: Bob Bolton, Mbo, Dave (the ancient mariner), Molly Malone, Susanne (skw), & Chuck Hemrick. For any who don't know, they are at "bbc's Mudcat Resources" site, which can be accessed at the top right of the Mudcat Discussion Forum page under "Quick Links." Sorry it took me some time for these. I'm not as comfortable doing the profiles & work has been insane lately & looks like it will continue to be till the end of the school year. best anyway, bbc P.S.--How many of you know what 5th Disease is? It's currently at epidemic proportions at my school & I suspect I'm coming down w/ it as we speak! |
