Subject: Homespun Tapes Sale From: GUEST,Happy T. Date: 11 Mar 00 - 02:42 PM If you'll forgive a blatantly commercial message (consider it a public service announcement), I wanted you all to know about the sale we are running right now, until March 31 only. Most of our video, CD and cassette lessons are greatly reduced in price, so this is your chance to try something new, or stock up on those lessons you've always wanted to try. If you're not yet familiar with Homespun Tapes, you should definitely check out our listings at http://www.homespuntapes.com. Thanks for listening. Happy T |
Subject: RE: Homespun Tapes Sale From: GUEST,TTCM Date: 11 Mar 00 - 02:55 PM ..For the un-initiated, the above post was courtesy of Happy Traum, a fine picker, and competitor of Stefan Grossman...and this time, we mean it. ...(the only difference is that you would not see Stefan here, trying to drum up business.)

Subject: RE: Homespun Tapes Sale From: GUEST,treadnot Date: 13 Mar 00 - 10:25 PM I agree completely with Tad Richards assessment of the Traum family library. Ain't nothin like it nowhere....now if I only had the time to sit with a few of those darn tapes for more than 37 seconds at a time I might learn something. yer gettin' old Tad |

Subject: RE: Homespun Tapes Sale From: JamesJim Date: 16 Mar 00 - 04:31 PM I have been a customer of Happy's over the years and learned to play using his audio tapes (probably about 20 years ago). Happy, you tempted me again. I just ordered a video on finger-picking. For anyone who desires to play any instrument, this is the place to go! Jim |
Subject: RE: Homespun Tapes Sale From: Pelrad Date: 16 Mar 00 - 09:47 PM Okay, if you were an absolute beginner on fiddle, I mean the kind of beginner who also does not play other instruments and so is not merely transferring skills from one instrument to another, which of the Homespun instructional tapes would be most helpful? Does anyone have suggestions? |
Subject: RE: Homespun Tapes Sale From: JamesJim Date: 16 Mar 00 - 10:39 PM Pelrad - note Happy's e-mail address and inquire about this from him. He and the rest of the folks there are down home and very helpful. It would probably be Bluegrass and Country Fiddle, taught by Kenny Kosek. There are six tapes, starting with introduction to fiddle, bowing, fingering, drone and harmony notes. I can't find a new catalog, but I would imagine this comes in both audio and video. On the other hand, if you prefer Irish fiddle, I think that's available as well. Jim |
