Thought I had sent this. Oh well, Aine, here it is again. I hope that it doesn't come up twice. here it is:

This is in the key of D.

A7 D Married him in April, lost him in July G A D Listen to my story and I'll tell you why

G They said that he'd been poaching and stealing wine A A7 They said I wouldn't see him for a long long time

Chorus D G A D They said he's gone to America G A D A To work the land that some called Virginia D G A They said he's gone to America

A7 D Married him in April, lost him in July

It continues on in the same fasion from there. Enjoy, Aine.

Cheers, Deb

Thanks so much, Deb! I've played it and added a chord. You had:

G A D Listen to my story and I'll tell you why

I've added a G6 in between the A and D on this line, so it looks like this:

G A [G6] D Listen to my story and I'll [tell you] why

Try it and let me know what you think.

Again, thank you very much! -- Áine

Hey Aine,

Since I don't know the names of the "funny" chords (G6), I bet it sounds great :-)

Glad you could use that...I must have figured out that chord structure about 18 years ago.

Cheers, Deb
