Since I had the role of "the petunia" in about 1st or second grade...it went something like this:

I'm a lonely little petunia in an onion patch, an onion patch, an onion patch.
I'm a lonely little petunia in an onion patch, and all I do is cry all day....
Boo hoo-oo, boo hoo-oo, and all I do is cry all day.

I am sure there is a second verse, but this is all I seem to remember. And the worst part was I was so scared to sing in front of all those people (parents of the class), I ended up forgetting the lyrics and DID cry all day! That was 55 years ago, but I can remember it like it happened just last year. Funny, the things we remember....

Whoopsie. I should have thought on my own to reciprocate with more lyrics to post here. It may be a few days before I can see my friend, but when I do I'll post as complete of lyrics as she remembers. There were other lyrics that she recited.

I have it on good authority (my mother) that it was sung on the radio in the fifties by Two Ton Baker, believed to be out of Chicago. The portion of the lyric my mother remembers (and it may be the whole song) are:

I'm a lonely little petunia in an onion patch, An onion patch, an onion patch. I'm a lonely little petunia in an onion patch. Oh, won't you come and play with me?

Can anyone remember a song about "I'm a lonely little petunia in an onion patch?" A friend of a friend asked for help, so I don't have any other words than these. It possibly dates from the fourties.
