This morning I did something our of character. Instead of immediately coming to Mudcat when I turned on the computer I did some seal watching instead. If you click here there is a realtime camera and you can watch them too. The camera is located not far from where I live. Sorry, I know this is off topic for the forum but this is a neat site.

Metchosin, thank you. I would love to watch them, but when I went there, the page loaded and I saw the black box which said Windows Media Camera Two, but there was no video. Did I not do something such as click on some button or somehting? I know I have the software for Windows Media. How did you get the live video stream?

Thanks,

kat

kat, you have to download a free Quicktime 4 to do it.There is directions if you go back to the Pearson College home page, to do it.

kat, it does takes a moment for the camera to come into focus. Although I found Max's strip exciting, as my husband complains, I also like to watch kelp. Apparently we might be able to see the birth of pups in June.

That's wonderful, Metchosin. I did download the player and am about to go install it. I really will enjoy this. Lucky you, living so close. It will also be interesting to see the udnerwater live footage when they get thats et up. Thanks for the pointers!

I tried but couldn't get a decent picture - shame. Maybe there is some net congestion or maybe my computer is too slow.

Thanks anyway Metchosin and I might try it again later.

Jon

They seem to have both cameras up and running now (nothing underwater on Camera 1 yet) and you can use Realplayer for the sound to hear what they might sound like out on the rocks. It would be wonderful if you could download the underwater videos of the sea lions for screen savers.

I got the picture, but it was pretty choppy. I did make out one seal and then, two, which was really Kool, but would've been better if not so choppy. I tried audio with my RealPlayer and it said it didn't have the right plug-in. I have the &Basic version.

I will keep checking this site, Metchosin. It was trhilling just to catch a glimpse, even. Thanks, kat

Some of us don't need a webcam to watch the selkies. a few steps out of the door and you get deafened by the noise after they have pupped.

But I quite agrea they are a wonderful sight, back to music does anyone know of any songs about selkies?

kat, this is probably one of the very few times I have been glad I am running a Mac. It's pretty fast but it still takes awhile for the camera to come into focus properly. At least you can have an instantaneous update on the weather here if your interested. Also on a clear day, you should be able to see the Olympic Mountain Range across the Strait in Washington State, from Camera 1's current vantage point.

Try clicking on "marine mammals" for the underwater videos of the seals.
